Police cited Ruby Eckert for failure to yield the right of way to an oncoming vehicle. . Representative Warren Hayse, 1014 South Grape st., has been named Medford repre sentative for Prudential Insur ance company, according to an announcement from the firm. Hayse is a native of Phoenix, where he attended public schols. A veteran of World War II, he served with the Navy in the south Pacific. Appointed William Coch ran has been appointed retail represetative at Medford for the Union Oil company of California. He is from Seattle and with his wife and daughter will establish his home in Medford as soon as they have secured a residence. Jailed Dewane Marvin Brown, 42, of 1501 Darnielle lane, Grants Pass, was arrested Monday by state police and lodged in the Jackson county jail on a charge of being drunk on a public highway, according to jail records. Tapped for Membership Dar rel Brittsan, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Brittsan, 1129 Niantic st., has been tapped for membership in Druids, junior men's hono rary at the University of Ore gon, according to a release from the university. Brittsan, a Med ford High school graduate, is a pre-law student. Medford Youths Held For Two Auto Thefts Two Medford boys, aged 14 and 15 were arrested in Klam ath Falls last night. State police said they were in possession of two pickup trucks, one stolen from here and another from Klamath Falls. They are being held in the juvenile ward of the Klamath county jail pending disposition of their case by juvenile au thorities. The boys are suspects in the theft of a pickup from Valley Motors, 224 North "Riverside ave., which was reported stolen yesterday morning. Theodore W. Hammond reported the theft, and said the keys apparently had been taken earlier. They are also suspected in a break and ' entry reported by Ben Wells of Orchard Home Builders Supply, 2810 Crater Lake highway, police said. Square Dance A public square dance will be held Thursday, May 26, at 8 p.m., in the Moose hall. Fran Cronin will call and women are to take sand wiches for potluck refresh ments. Knee Injury Carl Stockford, route 1, box 410A, Medford, was admitted about 5:30 a.m. to day to Osteopathic hospital for treatment of a knee injury which he suffered while work ing at the Medford corporation, attendants reported. Arm Fractured Frank Rich ardson Sr., Box 965, Central Point, received an arm fracture this morning while working at the veterans administration shops at Camp White, Commu nity hospital attendants report ed today. He was taken to the hospital soon after the accident. Richardson is a machinist. In Hospital Mrs. Marilyn Smith, 1139 Woodrow lane, is at Community hospital where she was admitted Sunday after noon, her family reported today. Mrs. Smith is a member of the Jackson county chapter of the Chin Up club and received med ical treatment some time ago at Tacoma, Wash. FOE Auxiliary Initiation ceremonies will be conducted Thursday, May 26, at 8 p.m. by the auxiliary to the Fraternal Order of Eagles, in the Eagles hall, 217 West Main st. Fire Inspections Fire Mar shal -Truman Nelson Monday inspected four business occupan cies, two warehouses and one residential area, and issued two orders or recommendations for elimination of fire hazards. On home inspection duty, firemen yesterday called at 295 homes, found 103 residences where no one was home, and 18 where they were refused admittance. At the 170 homes inspected, 54 recommendations were made for correction of common causes of fire, and at 129 homes no hazards were found. Huddleston; four sons, Glenn F. and Elton E., Medford; Volney B., Downey, Calif.; and Leo L., Bremerton, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Harry Bradford, Central Point, and Mrs. George Stout, Bur bank, Calif.; 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. MARY MATHER ' Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Emma Mather, 80, of Route 1, Medford, who died Monday, will be held in Conger Morris chapel Friday at 11 a.m., with .James Morse, of Jehovah's Witnesses,, officiating. Commit tal will be in Canyonville ceme tery. The deceased was born March 14, 1875, in Indiana, and had lived in Medford for the past five years. Her husband, the late William Henry Mather, died in 1938. Survivors include a son, James W., Medford, and three grandchildren. LYDIA MORTON Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia A. Morton, 95, who died Monday, will be held in Conger Morris chapel Thursday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. R. C. Flory of the Grants Pass church of the Brethren officiating. Committal will be in Mountain View ceme tery, Ashland. The deceased was born Oct. 3, 1859, in Virginia, and had been a resident of Medford for the past 14 years. Her husband, the late Joshua J. Morton, died in 1929. She was a member of the Medford Church of the Brethren. Survivors include a son, Oli ver O.. Medford: two daughters, Mrs. Nellie L. Haskins, Merrill, Ore., and Miss Alta Morton, Medford; two sisters, Mrs. Juda Maxwell, Carthage, Mo., and Mrs. Minnie Miller, Alvin, Tex.; nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A rented car driven by Rob ert Johnston Smith, 1462 Poplar dr., Medford, left the highway about five miles above Butte Falls last evening, damaging the vehicle and resulting in injuries to the driver, according to state police. Knutson, 615 North Columbus st., was elected com mander of Jackson county chap ter No. 8", Disabled American Veterans, at the annual election of officers last night. He will take office July 1. Knutson has served as treas urer almost continuouly since the first installation in the early 1930s, except for a couple of years during World War II, one year of which he served as com mander. Emery C. Anderson was named senior vice-commander; Henry L. Williams, junior vice commander; Lester L. Moster, the retiring commander, was named treasurer; James R. Lil lie, chaplain, and Frank Clayton, sergeant at arms. Those named to the executive committee are Lester P. Mathes, George W. Simmons and Ivan S. Hatfield. Mathes was named state executive committeemen. All will be installed July 12. Delegates to the department convention June 15 to 18 at Til lamook include Hans P. Soren son, Graham, Lillie.
