SIX MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Fridav, Mav 20, 19S5 Friends Churches' District Meeting Scheduled Here The Friends church will be host to representatives from 10 Friends churches of Oregon, from the Salem area south, Fri day through Sunday, for a quar terly meeting. Opening event will be a ban quet at 6:30 p.m. today, spon sored by the Christian En deavor group of Salem quarterly meeting. Featured will be an nouncements of Camp .Sa-wa-li-nais, Friends camp near Keno, which will be held July 12 to 18. Milo Ross, president of George Fox College, will speak and show pictures of life on the college campus. Local young people are decorating and plan ning the banquet program. Wom en of the church will serve the dinner. Saturday Session A meeting for worship will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m., with Dean Gregory, general sup erintendent of Oregon yearly meeting of Friends churches, as speaker, and Paul Barnett, pas tor of Highland Friends church, Salem, presiding. Dinner will be served at noon by women of the local church, followed by a business session. Reports from the participating churches and organized commit tees will be heard. Clerks are Clifton Ross and Mrs. Homer Kordyke, both of Salern. Repre sentatives to the business session from the local church are Mr. and Mrs. Bert Langston, Carol Gossard, Mrs. Raymond Brood, and Milo Hardin. Mr. Ross Speaker Speaker at the 11 a.m. Sun day worship will be Milo Ross, former pastor of the church, now president of George Fox col lege and radio minister on the Quaker hour broadcast. The pub lic is invited to radio listeners who wish to hear Mr. Ross in person. Junior church and a nursery for children will be con ducted. Other services of the day in clude Family hour at 7 p.m. and evening worship at 8 p.m. CENTENNIAL BILL SIGNED Salem (U.PJ Gov. Paul Pat terson signed into law yesterday the bill authorizing the Oregon Centennial Commission. The nine members will be appoint ed by the governor and will serve four years. Prospect Pastor To Give Farewell Message on Sunday Proscect Dr. and Mrs. L. T Edwards, pastors of the Church of the Nazarene in Prospect have resigned to reenter the field of evangelism. CRUSADE FOR CHRIST Esquire Theatre 416 East Main Baptismal Services Planned at Assembly A baptismal service will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Medford Assembly of God, 1108 West Main st., with the Assemblies of God at Phoe nix, Jacksonville and Medford participating in the service. Evangelist David Godwin, of Dallas, Tex., will be the speaker. Music will be furnished by the Godwin Evangelistic party. First Methodists Announce Concert The three choirs of the First Methodist church will combine to, present a sacred concert at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 23. The Chancel choir, under the di rection of Mrs. C. R. Adamson director of music, will be joined by the Youth and Children's choirs, under the direction of Mrs. George Sloniger, in singing the anthem "Blessed Are They" by F. Broadus Staley. Each choir also will sing individual anthems. Guest soloists include Mrs. Frank Blaar, contralto, soloist from the Zion Lutheran church, and Glen Lamb, baritone, from the First Baptist church. At the 9:30 and 11 a.m. serv ices worship services, Dr. Ray mond E. Balcomb will preach on the theme, "The Field Of A Failure." Mrs. Archie Pierce, soprano, will be soloist. Lyle Daun To Speak Lyle Daun, a Medford high school student who will be grad uated in June, will speak Sunday at 7:30 p.m., at the Central Church of Christ, Central ave., and Jackson st. This will be his first sermon. .He plans to enter San Jose Bible college next fall to study for the ministry. Senior high school students will be honored after the service at a social and reception. Miss Beverly Beck will have charge of the evening worship which will be conducted entirely by the First Baptists Will Hear Guest Speakers Guest speaker at the First Baptist church Sunday will be the Rev. Wesley Hoff; missionary appointee under the Conserva tive Baptist Foreign Mission so ciety to Brazil. He will give the messages at the 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. worship services. He and Mrs. Hoff also will take part in the opening session of the Sun day school at 9:45 a.m. and of the Senior Baptist league at 6:30 p.m. Music for the morning service will be provided by the adult choir and by J. Robert Cochran as soloist. The youth choir will sing in the evening, and the girls' trio, composed of Emily Ganna way, Charlene Paull, and Phyllis Brannock, will furnish a song. The Rev. James W. Neely, pas tor of the church, is attending the national annual meetings of Conservative Baptists May 18 through May 24, at St.. Paul, Minn. He plans to return to Med ford by Friday, May 27.
