Sir Alexander Grantham. in his speech on the budget, said housing will be a problem for many years yet although reset tlement is well on the way to so lution. During 1954, the popula tion in the resettlement areas al most trebled. About 120,000 former squat ters have now been re-housed and are living in resettlement areas, he said. Additional accommodations for over 20,000 persons are under construction, so it can be said that the squatter problem is about half solved, he said.
