(International) Many To Be Stranded In Northern Viet Nam Washington (U.R) Diplo matic officials predict that about 1,000,000 Vietnamese who want to flee Communist rule will be stranded in North Viet Nam after next Wednesday. - That is the deadline for the Communist takeover of the northern part of the Indochinese nation. The flow of all refugees must stop then unless the Reds agree to extend the time limit. The United States and some of its allies have been quietly try ing to get the deadline extended so persons still in the north can move south if they wish. But au thorities hold little hope that these efforts will succeed. 64 Medford Residences Found Fire Hazard-Free .. No hazards were noted by fire men at 64 residences visited Wednesday in the current city wide home inspection program. Hazards were found at 60 of the 124 houses inspected and 81 recommendations were made for elimination of common causes of fires. The firemen made stops at 263 homes, found no one home at 125 and had 14 refusals of inspection. Don Magnuson, (D-Wash.), has asked for a congressional in quiry into the Army's proposed "undesirable" discharge of a reserve corporal whose father was accused of being a Commun ist. "I seriously wonder whether it is not a violation of constitu tional guarantees to draft a man into the service and then subject him to the lifetime handicap of an undesirable discharge be cause of something his father may have said or done or be lieved before the son was taken into the service," Magnuson said in a House 'speech. Daily's U-Drive Medford Airport Roseburg TV Plans Changed by Firms Southern Oregon Broadcast ing company, Medford, which op erates KBES-TV, will dismiss its application to build a television station at Roseburg.it has been learned here. The company has notified the Federal Communications com mission that it will acquire 50 per cent of Southwest Oregon Television Broadcasting Co., owner of KVAL-TV, Eugene, and dismiss its Roseburg applica tion. SOTB will continue its appli cation for Channel 4 in Roseburg, and, according to information in the current issue of the Broad casting Telecasting magazine, plans to operate a Roseburg out let as a "satellite" of the Eugene TV station. Beverage Group Asks Approval of Pinballs Portland (U.R) The Ore gon Licensed Beverage associa tion has asked the city council here to license pinball machines here. , The council is scheduled to hear the request along with one filed earlier this week by the Teamsters Union asking a public hearing on pinballs. The mach ines will become illegal here when a mandate upholding the city's anti-pinball ordinance is handed down by the State Su preme Court. " : it' - ivy Reef China Accuses US Of Territory Violation London (U.R) Communist China has accused the United States of sending Sabrejets over Communist territory as part of a "criminal plan" to intimidate the Chinese people and prevent the "liberation" of Formosa. The charges by Peiping Radio marked the second time the Com munists accused the U.S. Air Force of "intruding" over the Chinese mainland in the battle in which U.S. Sabrejets shot down two MIGs and probably shot down two more. 4-H Club News Central Point Club Central Point 4-H Forestry club met May 10 at the home of the leader, Ivan Skyrman. We talked about bringing self addressed post cards to the next meeting. These would then be mailed out to remind us of fu ture meetings. We discussed and planned a forestry field trip for Sunday, May 15. We will meet at Skry man's at 1 o'clock to leave for Kanes Creek. Everyone is to be sure to bring their clipboard and books. Mr. Skyrman had a quiz lined up for us. There were 18 differ ent trees for us to identify. The requirements for Forestry I members were discussed and we talked about whether or not to have an overnight camping trip. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Skyrman. Joan Dobrot, Reporter. Gen. Howard Mc. Snyder, White House physician, said to day her condition is "about her usual state of health." She and the President and her mother, Mrs. Elivera Doud, are planning to observe Mrs. Doud's 77th birthday Friday night at their Gettysburg, Pa., farm. The White House said they probably will drive up when Mr. Eisenhower gets through with his Cabinet meeting tomorrow, about noon. They probably will return to Washington Sunday evening. Meanwhile, the President is continuing to fill some of his wife's social engagements. To day's calendar included the Con gressional Club cotillion, a group of children of members of Con gress who originally were sched uled to meet Mrs. Eisenhower.
