Many To Be Stranded
In Northern Viet Nam
Washington (U.R) Diplo
matic officials predict that about
1,000,000 Vietnamese who want
to flee Communist rule will be
stranded in North Viet Nam after
next Wednesday.
- That is the deadline for the
Communist takeover of the
northern part of the Indochinese
nation. The flow of all refugees
must stop then unless the Reds
agree to extend the time limit.
The United States and some of
its allies have been quietly try
ing to get the deadline extended
so persons still in the north can
move south if they wish. But au
thorities hold little hope that
these efforts will succeed.

To couple is a custom
All things thereto agree
Why should not I then love
Since love to all is free?
For everything created
In the bounds of earth and sky
Hath such longing to be mated
It must couple or must die.

Queries from Clients. Q.
Who was the first feminine film
star? A Florence Lawrence.
Before Carl Laemmle gave her
star billing in 1910, no film act
resses were given screen credit.
Even Mary Pickford was only
known as "The Biograph Girl."
q What would you name as
Walter Donaldson's greatest
song? A That's strictly a mat
ter of opinion. Some say it was
"My Blue Heaven." Others pre
fer "Mammy." My favorite of
all the great songs Walter wrote
is "My Buddy."
Sidelights
Bachelors have a very diffi
cult life in Greece. In that coun
try all bachelors must pay
double taxes. Also, any public
official who is not married by
the age of 25 must resign his
position . . . The reason there
have been so few left-handed
golf or billiard champions is that
southpaws are not usually suf
ficiently calm in temperament to
succeed at those games. South

Shut In
Clarence Day suffered so se
verely from arthritis that he was
compelled to spend most of his
life as a shut-in constantly in
pain. Yet, while suffering in
tensely, he established a success
ful glove business and wrote
that great best seller titled "Life
With Father."
Pleas Note
"Darling" was once a term of
endearment among married
couples. Now it is just a routine
salutation. It is also much used
by wives as a preface to sarcasm,
correction, or criticism. Then
the word is further abused by
those dizzy dames who call
everybody "Darling!"
Passing By

actress. Her clever ancestor,
George Lupino, made his first
appearance before an English
audience in 1642 A.D. And ever
since for over 300 years there
has been a member of the Lu
pino family active in the British
or American theater or both.

Get It Right
Still continued in the argu
ment regarding the silver dollar
George Washington allegedly
threw across a river in Virginia.
Some say he threw it across the
Potomac' Others say it was the
Rappahannock. The date given
for the much discused event is
1738. Those who really check
when arguing say no silver dol
lars were coined in this country
until 1792. They further point
out that in 1738 Washington
was only 6 and probably not
strong enough to throw a penny
across a babbling brook.

Reef China Accuses US
Of Territory Violation
London (U.R) Communist
China has accused the United
States of sending Sabrejets over
Communist territory as part of
a "criminal plan" to intimidate
the Chinese people and prevent
the "liberation" of Formosa.
The charges by Peiping Radio
marked the second time the Com
munists accused the U.S. Air
Force of "intruding" over the
Chinese mainland in the battle
in which U.S. Sabrejets shot
down two MIGs and probably
shot down two more.
