SIXTEEN MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Thursday, May 5, 19S5 Fooilighfers Plan Work Parly Sunday Mrs. Max Wimmer, president of the Footlighters community theater group, said today- the .public is invited to attend a "work party" Sunday afternoon at the Fairgrounds. iviemoers 01 xne group, men friends and any others interested will work on the site where the building will be situated after it is moved. The present two-story struc ture, near the highway, is being cut down to one story and moved about 500 feet east to provide room for the new armory build ing. Workmen have so far taken away most of the lower floor ex cept the pillars supporting the upper structure. The pillars will be cut soon, and the upper sec tion lowered on jacks for mov ing. Will Dig HoIm The Sunday project will be to di2 40 holes and prepare con crete forms, which will be filled to serve as supports for the building when it is moved. Mrs. Wimmer said that coffee will be served to those attending the work project. The event will get under way at about 2 p.m. The theater group president said that interest in the Foot lighters remains high, despite the fact that activities have been limited by the building being un available. But the new, one-story theater, which will be somewhat remodeled and altered to provide better facilities, will be the "answer to our dreams," Mrs. Wimmer said, and added that the group expects interest and en thusiasm to continue. More Offers of Jobs To Greet Graduates Corvallis (U.R) The 1955 college graduate will be greeted by more job offers and slightly higher pay when he starts look ing for work, according to place ment officials at Oregon State college. f. Officials said there was in creased demand for all type of engineers and excellent oppor tunities in industry. Well pre pared teachers are in demand and also jobs in retailing and manufacturer's sales representa tion. . Physics department teachers reported that young scientists of 1 kinds were in short supply w.d that the school could easily place 10 times as many physi cists as it does without effort. Both men and women are in demand for secretarial jobs with average starting pay up about $25 to $34 a month over last year. Portland Youngster Strangled by Belt Portland KlMft Richard Grier, was found strangled by his own belt from a double deck bunk in his bedroom yesterday. Deputy Coroner Roos Wood ward said the boy may have ac cidentally hanged himself. He said the boy has sox but no shoes and may have slipped on the linoleum floor, lost his bal ance and caught the belt on the bed in such a manner that he was strangled. He was believed changing clothes at the time. He was found by a youngei-. brother. Firemen used a resusci tator but the boy was ' pro nounced dead by the family doc tor at 5:30 p.m. He was one of seven children of Mr. and Mrs. John Grier. Hornbrook Hornbrook, Calif. Mrs. Paul Greene's piano and accordion class gave a recital in her home here April 30 in which the class demonstrated technical exer cises and played musical games based on music theory. Pieces were played from memory by Linda Rawhauser, Lillian Raw hauser, Deanna Barbera of Hilt, Carol Petersen, Anne Rutledge and Deanna Barbera.
