J Pi P U .1 -J I 4l -1 fi A. i I 1 SIX MEDFORD (OREGON) Assembly Youth at Jacksonville Will Conduct Services Jacksonville The Youth of the Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville will join some 86 thousand young people of As semblies of God churches throughout the United States Sunday, April 24, in observance of the ninth National Christ's ambassadors day. Sunday services will feature members of the local CA group headed by the president, Mrs. Harry Belau. The observance will launch a nation wide reading of the Book of Acts for the youth group at the Jacksonville Assembly of God, as well as at some 6,000 other Assemblies of G o d churches- of the U.S. The na tional office in Springfield. Mo., expects to circulate 50,000 copies of the Book of Acts on Sunday with the opening of the reading project. 4 Future Leaders During services here, em phasis will be placed on the position of yoXith in the church and their importance as future leaders. Members of the CA group will be in charge of th youth service at 6:30 p.m. Officers of the local group in addition to the president, Miss Belau, are. Clayton Fields, Doris Wall, and Ernest Havemann. The Rev. W. D. Turhbull.is ad viser of the group. Sunday Program Told For First Methodists Dr. Raymond E. Balcomb will speak at the 9:30 and 11 a.m services of worship at the First Methodist church on the theme, "The Go in the Gospel." The children's choir, under the direc tion of Mrs. Dorothy Sloniger will sing at the 9:30 a.m. ser vice and the Chancel choir, un der the direction of Mrs. C. R, Adamson will sing at the 11 a.m. service. Soloist for both will be Bryan Pierce. The spring series of the School cf Christian Living will continue with a snack supper at 6 p.m, by the Susannah Wesley Service guild. Interest groups for all ages at 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. and Fam ily worship at 7:30 p.m. will be conducted. The Adult Member ship Class is in charge of Mrs. Anne Gorby. The Young Adults will meet at the home of Dr. and Mrs. J. Thomas Dixon, 110 Clover-lane al S-30 p.m. Dr. Balcomb will speak. Church Leaders at West Coast Meeting Six members of the First Church of God, Haven apd Holly ts., -attended the West Coast Ministerial assembly of the Church of God in Portland, Ore gon, Monday, April 18 through Thursday, April 21. Church leaders from Ander son, Ind., and selected confer ence chairmen from the west coast directed the visiting lay men and clergy in the theme, "Toward Maturity In Christ." CLINE HALSEY THE REV. CARL ANDERSON At Free Methodist Free Methodists Will Conduct 12-Day Series The Rev. Carl E. Anderson of Portland, Maine, general con ference evangelist of the Free Methodist . church of North America, will speak in a 12-day series of evangelistic services at the Medford Free Methodist church, West 10th and Ivy sts. This is the first visit the Rev. Anderson has made to the Pa cific northwest. He recently spoke in a series of meetings at Valdez, Alaska, and arrives here from Grants Pass. Women's Missionary Program Will Open Assembly District Council The 19th annual district coun cil of the Oregon Assemblies of God will get underway on Tues day at 2 p.m. at the Medford Assembly of God with the Wom en's Missionary council program under the direction of Mrs. F. J. Walton, state president of the Women's Missionary Councils. Actual business sessions will not begin until Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. following a devo tional period. Business sessions will continue each morning and afternoon through Friday. Daily at 7:30 p.m. an inspirational service will be held with the Rev. Ralph M. Riggs, of Spring field, Mo., and general super intendent of the Assemblies of God, as speaker, Presbyters Meet Prior to the actual start of trie convention, the district presbyters will meet at 6 p.m, Monday for preliminary plan ning. This body will continue working throughout Tuesday. To Preside The Rev. Atwood Foster, dis trict superintendent, will preside at all the business sessions for the presbytery and the conven tion. Election of ten sectional presbyters will be on the agenda of the council. Proposed consti tutional changes will be dis cussed as well as proposals for more adequate financing of both state and national church pro grams. A number of missionaries home on furlough will be in attendance at the convention.
