Aubrey Sander, 531 West 10th st., has been elected exalted ruler of the Medford Elks lodge. He will take office for a one year term on April 1. Sander has been a member of the Medford Elks lodge since 1936, and has served as a lodge officer since 1950, when he started as esquire. The new officers will be in stalled Thursday, April 7. Frank J. Van Dyke will be acting grand exalted ruler and will conduct the installation services. He will be assisted by mem bers of the grand lodge, includ ing B. L. Sanderson, J. F. Fliegel, S. E. Philips, E. W. Winkle, V. W Kengla, V Aubrey Norris, E. C. Jerome, Murray S. Gardiner, C. C. Leonard, and Arthur D. Hess. All are past exalted rulers. The installation services will be preceded by the annual Med ford Elks lodge crab feed. Russia Declared Trying To Renege On British Orders London (U.R) Russia is try ing to renege on some of its much publicised orders for mil lions of dollars worth of British goods, official sources said here. The orders were placed in Britain before Soviet Premier Georgi M. Malenkov got booted out along with his policy of ad vocating more consumer goods to make life easier for the Russian people. Seen Outcome Of Shift The attempt to cancel his or- Iders were believed to be an im mediate outcome of the shift of priority back to heavy industry and arms production that accom-1 panied the change in command at the Kremlin. Authoritative sources said or ders placed in Britain worth be tween $14,000,000 and $28,000, 000 were believed involved. The Soviet trade delegation in London, which was quietly purg ed to reflect the new policy, is working on the cancellations. Mainly Consumer Goods The British Board of Trade said "the Russian trade delega tion has told a number of firms that Russian importing agencies wish to cancel or modify orders placed with them." The orders concerned "mainly consumer goods or machinery to make con sumer goods," the government agency said. Russia is now expected to seek more machinery in the West.
