Van Pelt, 698 South Modoc avenue. The Rev. Alphia Lemely of Ashland Church of Christ officiated for the double-ring ceremony, held at eight o'clock in the evening. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Tosh, 1946 Delta Waters road, and the bridegroom Is a son of Mrs. Mae A. Potter, 516 Park Place No. 5, Medford. 1 Sixty-five guests attended the ceremony, and the reception which followed. Arrangements of pink roses and white stock with greenery decorated the fire place which provided a setting for the wedding party.. . The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of traditional white satin and lace and , carried white carnations with pink sweetheart rosebuds. She was attended by Miss Neva Elaine Schmeltzer, Central Point, who wore a blue taffeta frock and carried pink and white carnations. 0Joe H. Tosh, brother of the bride, was best man and ushers were Don Tosh and Brinson Sto- . val, Phoenix, cousins of the bride. For the reception Miss Char lotte Stovall, cousin of the bride, cut the wedding cake and Miss Alma Stovall, another cousin, served punch. Miss Beverly Tash, the bride's sister, took charge of the guest book. The bride, a sophomore at Crater High school, will continue her studies and the bridegroom, a private first class in the Army, will report soon at Camp Kil mer, N. J. from where he will leave for duty in Germany. He is to be released in April, 1956, and plans to attend Oregon Techni cal institute at Klamath Falls. The bridegroom attended Med ford Junior High school before entering the army, and com pleted his high school education since entering the service. Rosebud Council Receives Charter; Organizer Visits Talisman Rosebud council, Pythian Sunshine Girls, observ ed the first anniversary of in stitution of the council and re ceived its charter at a special meeting Tuesday evening at the Pythian building. The charter was presented by Mrs. Paul Myers, St. Helens, state organizer and supreme royal prelate of Sunshine girls, who also inspected the group. New jewels for the council were presented by Royal Prin cess Banra Miller, who presided. Mr. Myers, grand chancellor of the Knights of Pythias, was present and introduced, and sev eral members of the Pythian Sisters lodge from Grants Pass attended. Refreshments in keemns with the anniversary of the council were served by counselors. Study Club A meeting of, Wednesday Study club will be held at 2 p.m. March 2 at Girls' Commu nity club. Mrs. N. Green Guild Show Plans Made The spring style show, plan ned by Tudor guild and sched uled for March 21 at 8 p.m. at the Tally Ho dining room will include clothing for all ages and for both sexes, the committee states. Children, teenagers, young women, matrons and men will model clothing appropri ate for their age group. Round-the-clock fashions will progress from morning to night attire and informal to formal dress. Refreshments will be served. After tickets are purchased from any Tudor guild member, reservations must be made by phoning Mrs. Harry Skerry or Mrs. Ralph McCullouh in Ash land: Mrs. Myron Root, Mrs. C. Rease Braley or Mrs. Max Wim mer, Medford. Proceeds from the event will go toward scholarships for the Oregon Shakespearean Festival. The event is being held at Tally Ho because of its conven ient location on the Pacific high way mid-way between Medford and Ashland. Bible Group Plans Study of Hebrews Miss Streed's Bible Stud group will stud the Book of Hebrews for the next few weeks and will begin the study Tuesday, March 1 at 7:30 p. hi. They will meet at the home of Miss Anna May, 1810 Orchard Home drive. The . textbook guide for the study will be the Epistle to the Hebrews by Charles R. Erdman. Each study group member is to take a note book and pencil to the sessions. A name was tentatively selected for the group but it must be checked for pre-use be fore being formally adopted. The question of dues and group in surance also were discussed, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Young do nated the use of their ranch home as a meeting place for the club. Barbara Lickess, a charter member, was elected ride cap tain of the month. It was de cided that the group will meet Sunday, March 6 on Roxy Ann for a breakfast ride. Ersula Bates and Barbara Read were ap pointed flagmen for the ride. The adult board of directors and club officers will meet at the Young's home Tuesday, March 1 when arrangements for group insurance, supervision and other matters will be decided. The next regular meeting will be at the Youngs Thursday, March 10, at 7:30 p. m. Anyone interested in further informa tion may call telephones 2-9731 .or 2-5567. Vegetable Study Announced for Extension Units Four county home extension units will convene this week. "Vegetables, attractive, delicious and nutritious," will be the les son projects for all. Reese Creek Mrs. Joe Whip ple will be hostess at her home for a meeting of Reese Creek Home Extension unit women Tuesday, March 1 at 10:30 a. m. Mrs. Whipple and Mrs. R. C. Nelsen will lead the subject. Luncheon will be served for a nominal fee and all women of the vicinity are invited. Medford Parents unit will have Mrs. Nick DeWitt and Mrs. Lucian Van Gordon as their leaders when they meet Tues day, March 1 at 7:30 p. m.,' at the home of Mrs. Laurence Ryer son, route 1, box 209A, Central Point. Assisting Mrs. Ryerson as hostess will be Mrs. Alfred Filatreau and Mrs. John Johnson. Lake Creek Mrs. Grace Mar shall will be the hostesses for the Lake Creek- members Wednesday, March 2 at 10:30 a. m. Upper Applegate The Upper Applegate unit also will meet on Wednesday, March 2, with Mrs. Chester McDonough at Ruch as the hostess. . FOE Auxiliary Honors Members; " Events Planned Two surprise events were held Thursday evening by members of the auxiliary to the Fraternal Order of Eagles at the Eagles hall. The first one was a hand kerchief shower for the auxil iary mother, Mrs. Emma Perkins. Later that evening after the busi ness session the auxiliary mem bers met with , the Eagles lodge members in the dining hall to honor Mr. and Mrs. John Weber of Ashland. Mrs. Weber is pres ident of the auxiliary. . A decorated cake was present ed to the Webers. A meeting of auxiliary officers will be held at the hall Tuesday, March 1 at 8 n. m. Committee ! chairmen also are to attend .the session. A crab dinner sponsored by the .men will be held Thursday evening, March 3, after a meet ing which is to convene at 8 p. m. Women are to take potato salad. New Teachers Take Part in symposium Mrs. Lillie Calander acted as moderator for a symposium at a meeting February 19 of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority at tne Girls Community club. The sym posium was made up of teachers with not more than two years of experience in the teaching field. Their topic was "Effective Ways that the School and the Community Can Help the Be ginning Teacher." Those who took part in the discussion were, Mrs.- Katherine Alsing, first grade teacher, Walker school, Ashland; Miss Emma Redbird, second grade, Briscoe school, Ashland; Miss Carolyn Varitz, English teacher, high school, Grants .Pass; Mrs. Phyllis Han sen, primary teacher, Griffin Creek; and Mrs. Delora Wage, second grade teacher, Talent. The speakers pointed out a number of ways the school and the community can help the be ginning teacher to become a part of and adjust to the important profession they have chosen. Members of the chapter who have returned were introduced and asked to give at least one incident that stands out in their memories from the years of ex perience they have had in teach ings. They were Mrs. Bertha Baugh- man, Ashland; Mrs. Blanche Ca- node, Medford; Miss Grace Lytle, Ashland;. Mrs. Ivah Murray, Medford; Miss Ethel Reid, Ash land; Mrs. . Maye Wells, Ash land; Mrs. Mae Richardson, Cen tral Point, and Miss Eugenia Carson, Ashland. One retired member, Miss Jeanette Smith, is now on a tour of the Philippine Islands. Mrs, Murray read the goals and ob jectives of the newly organized Retired Teachers' association. Miss Gayle Turner, a student in teacher education from South ern Oregon college, accompanied Mrs. Richard Werner who sang two solos for the program. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Georgiana Beier, Miss Ina Freeman, Mrs. Mabel Hundley and Miss Yetta Olson.. Mrs. Kathryn Stancliffe, pres ident, presided for the business meeting which preceded the symposium and program. Speaker Coming For Dinner Club "Latin America in Transition" will be the subject for the next meeting of Rogue River Valley Knife and Ford club to be held at Rogue Valley Country club March 11. The speaker, Bertita Hard ing, is an author, world traveler and acknowledged authority on Mexico. . Make your appointment nowl 40 SOUTH CENTRAL Rosemus-Kubli Rites Are Held In Grants Pass Applegate Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Anthony Rosemus, whose wedding was an event of February 9 at Newman Metho dist church, Grants Pass made their wedding trip to San Fran cisco. The bride, the former Miss Audrey Anita Kubli, will return to her classes at Grants Pass high school where she is a sen ior student, and the bridegroom will return to Castle Air Force base at Merced, Calif., where he is stationed. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Chester C. Kubli of Applegate. The bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Eileen Hoban of Cor- vallis, and Thomas J. Rosemus of Grants Pass. Baskets of snapdragons, stock and daffodils formed the wed ding setting and Dr. F. W. Werts performed the triple ring eve ning ceremony. Mrs. Raymond McAllister fur nished the organ music. Mr, Kubli gave his daughter in marriage. Her satin gown was designed with a lace bodice, and a small crown held her fin gertip tulle veil. She carried a white Bible and an orchid. Miss Janice Rosemus, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. Her gown was of pale green taffeta and net and she carried a nosegay of pink and white carnations. Misses Janet Howell and Dona Brown were bridesmaids. Their gowns were of pastel shades and they carried matching nosegays. Arlene Tansy, flower girl, wore a pink taffeta and net gown. Miss Lurabelle Dietrick and Miss Ann Gustafson, who light ed the candles were dressed in matching gowns of lavender. Richard Rosemus, a brother of the bridegroom was best man and seating the guests were Douglas Ugstad and Richard White. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Kubli was dressed in a beige faille dress and Mrs. Rose mus wore a green crepe dress. Their flowers were lavender orchids. The reception was held at the church. Assisting were Major Lorna V. Kubli, a sister of the bride, who served the cake, and Mrs. Kenneth Norwood, who poured. Contest Speeches Given at Meeting Of Women's Club Mrs. A. C. Cameron had charge of the Toastmistress club meeting Tuesday at radio sta tion KBOY. Mrs. Eff ie Kurtz an nounced the speakers. Judges for contest speeches were the Rev. Thomas Dixon, assistant pastor of the Metho dist church, and Mrs. Everett Faber, Central Point. Speakers were Mrs. Clarence Wilson, Miss Anna Streed and Mrs. Zelda Van Valzah. Guests for the evening includ ed Mrs. Alice Launer, Portland, mother of Mrs. Faber, and Miss Grace Seiler. yours... 0 FOR PHOTOGRAPHS PHONE 2-6069 ) I; iSijrltfW but I Sunday, February 27, 195S Kiwanian Dames For Girl Scout Gamp Low Echo, Girl Scout established camp at Lake O' Woods, will have new roofs for some of the buildings and a new boat for wa ter front activities, thanks -to the annual fund-raising project of Medford Kiwanian Dames. ; At the annual Girl Scout luncheon of the group, held Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Dwight Houghton, 512 Dakota avenue, a check for $535 was presented to the Girl Scout camping chairman, Mrs. Elliott Duffy. Also guests at the lunch eon were Mrs. Micheie Rossi, president , of the Rogue Valley Area council, and Miss Mary Aldrich, new Girl Scout area executive. The check was presented to Mrs. Duffy by Mrs. Emerson Anderson and Mrs. Everett Fa ber, co-chairmen for the "doll project" through which the money was raised. Mrs. Elliott spoke on plans for the 1955 camp, and announc ed that Miss Irene "Kit" Knox, Washington, D. C, teacher, has been engaged as camp director for the coming summer. Miss Knox, who has had 17 years experience in various phases of scouting, was on the staff of Low Echo two previous sum mers. At one time she headed a group of Girl Scouts for a trip abroad. ' Also announced was the. ap pointment, oi J-ieKoy iioyd as camp building chairman for the coming season. Mrs. Duffy stated that since the number of . girls attending Low Echo increases yearly, a new unit may be con structed this year. Last summer the camp aver aged 110 girls per week for five consecutive weeks. Mrs. Elliott spoke concerning the value of outdoor camping experiences for growing girls and read "Democracy in Action by Reynold E. Carlson, associate professor of recreation at In diana University. Mr. Carlson wrote "To love the land in which we live; to understand and ap preciate the institutions that make it strong; to make one's place in life and to learn the fine art of living, learning, and working together in groups this to me is the meaning of democracy. What finer place than in a Girl Scout camp can this be learned?" Members of Washington Troop 16 opened the meeting by pre senting a skit and singing Girl Scout songs. Mrs. W. A. Samuelson, Ki wanian .Dames president, con ducted the meeting. During the ousiness session plans were made for a May day luncheon, and bridge party to be given May 2 at Rogue Valley Country club.
