SIX MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Gold Hill Church Scene of Revival The Rev. Rinke A. Feenstra and his wife will be in Gold Hill for a week of evangelistic meetings to be held at the Meth odist church, assisting the local pastor, the Rev. Gerald W. Gear, beginning Sunday night, Feb. 27. Both are ordained ministers of the church, and have served over 30 years in the Oregon con ference. The Rev. Mr. Feenstra was born and raised in Holland. He was 21 when he came to western United States, and secured a homestead in the Quincy basin of central Washington. Mrs. Feenstra's parents were Oregon pioneers and came here in 1845. They settled near Al bany. After the Feenstra's were married, they attended an inter denominational Bible training school, the Chicago Evangelistic institute. They are retired from the ac tive ministry. Sunday night Rev. Feenstra's message will deal with the im portance of every person, "There is Gold in These Hills." Monday night Mrs. Feenstra will give a testimony based on "New Life In Christ" by Charles Lamon. Tuesday night Mr. Feenstra will speak on "Jacob the Wrest ler," and "Names Make News."; Wednesday, "David, the G i a n t Killer"; Thursday, "Choose the God who Answers by Fire," and Friday, "These All Obtained a Good Report by Faith." . Baptist League To Conduct Services The Senior Baptist league of high " school and college age young people will have charge of the 7:30 p.m., service of the First Baptist church on Sun day evening. The theme for the service will be "Lower Lights," taken from the hymn, "Let the Lower Lights be Burning." Youth speakers will be Ted Landers, Darlene Neeley, and Louis Nesberg. Sonja Peterson will be organist; Glen Lamb, pianist; and Ned Landers, song leader. ' Stanley Kee, president of the youth group, will give the greeting and lead in the eve ning prayer. Mrs. Ted Graham will lead the youth choir and other music will be provided by an instrumental trio, male quar tet, and solo by Emily . Ganna way. ... . Dr. J. Charles MacDonald, guest minister, will speak at the worship hour at 11 a.m. His ermon will be entitled, "Never theless, God!" The public is in vited to attend both services, the Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. and Baptist leagues at 6:30 p.m. Delegates To Attend Methodist Services About 125 delegates will at tend a midwinter conference of the Eugene district Wesleyan service guilds at the First Meth odist church, Saturday and Sun day, Feb. 26 and 27. Delegates will worship with the congrega tion on Sunday morning when Dr. Raymond E. Balcomb will preach on the theme, "The Un finished Business of Peace" in connection with Methodism's na tionwide-Crusade for World Order. Miss Deh Hua Hang, a native of Singapore, China, now being sponsored at Willamette univer sity by the Wesleyan service guilds of Oregon, will be a spe cial guest and will offer an. or gan recital at 10:45 p.m. Sun day. Arrangements for the meet ing have been made by Mrs. C. R. Adamson, district secre tary. - , . . At the evening School of Christian Living with its inter est groups for the entire family, Dr. Balcomb will speak to the "Marriage Clinic" on the theme, "Pastoral Conuselling"; Dr. J. Thomas Dixon will conclude the study of the Book of Revelation; and Herb Sampert, lay leader, will be in charge of the adult Membership class. Snack supper will be served by the Builders class at 6 p.m. and the Rev. Mrs. Gorby will be in charge of the family worship period at 7:30, and will speak on "Strength and Courage." ROEHL New Here New Pastor Arrives At Advent Christian The Rev. David L. Roehl re cently arrived in Medford from Whitefield, N. H., to assume pas torship of the local Advent Christian church. He is formerly of "Weiser, Ida., and is a 1949 graduate of the high school there. He attended the New England School of Theology in Brookline, Mass., and at Whitefield he was pastor for nearly two years of the Ad vent Christian church there. He was active in the New Hamp shire conference and he also was president of the Youth in Christ rallies in his district. Nazarene Musical Series Will Open The first in a series of month ly musical programs will be pre sented in the Sunday evening service at the Church of the Nazarene. Eleven various vocal ensem bles will sing only the music of Mrs. C. H. Morris, considered to be one of the greatest of gos pel song writers. Sketches of her life will be interwoven between the various musical selections. Mrs. Morris wrote not only the words to her songs but the music as well, including the harmony. In the Sunday school hour, Homecoming day will be- ob served as each class rallies to have perfect attendance for the occasion. At the morning wor ship hour, the choir will sing and Donna Goble will furnish a new gospel song. The Rev. "Quaker Hour" broadcast, KMED. Topic for Lenten Series Announced At the Congregational church Sunday, the Rev. Thomas Mc Camant will begin a Lenten serries of sermons on the gen eral topic, "Words." The words to be discussed will be words commonly used in describing the Christian way, but not always commonly under stood. The topic of the first ser mon will be "Faith." . Future topics to be taken up will depend partly on expres sions of interest by members of the congregation, but they may include such words as, "Holi ness," "Salvation," "Grace" and "Eternal Life." The Congregational church will join in a teaching mission beginning this week and the Rev. Walter J. McGettigan, pas tor of the Cedar Hills Com munity church, near Portland, will be the guest leader. His church is also a new church, the Congregational church most recently organized before the Medford church. Sharing Program Will Open Sunday The One Great Hour of Shar ing program, in which all de nominations are uniting, will begin Sunday in the First Pres byterian church. Dr. D. K. West will tell how he distributed to the needy in China the proceeds from these gifts. He will preach at the morning services on Men witn tiod Touched Hearts.' Central Point Church To Entertain Workers Central Point National youth directors for the Pente' costal Church of God will be entertained here today at 7:30 p.m. in connection with a youth drive by the denomination throughout the nation, the Rev. Brown, general treasurer of the Assem blies of God, with headquarters in Springfield, Mo., will be the speaker at the Sunday morning services at the Medford Assem bly of God, 1108 West Main st., according to the pastor, F. On Saturday . night Rev. Brown will be the featured speaker in a Christ's ambassa dor youth rally at the Rogue River Assembly of God. The rally will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be attended by young peo ple from throughout the valley. On Sunday night he will speak at the Assembly of God, 485 Sis kiyou blvd., at 7:30 p.m. He directs the denomination's programs in benevolence, fi nance and radio and under his leadership the radio department has carried on extensive radio programming, producing Revi valtime. It concerns Sgt. Jacob De Shazer, one of General Doolit tle's flyers who bombed Japan during World War II and who was shot down and held prison er by the Japanese with his fel low Americans on the raid. The sergeant now is a missionary. The story of the men's cap ture behind enemy lines and the treatment they received is told in the film. Sergeant De Shazer's. sister, Miss Helen Andras, . taught school at Prospect for a number of years. His mother lives at Madras, Ore. Last year he was flown back to the United States from his missionary work to at tend a Doolittle reunion and they voted to assist him in sup porting his work as a missionary.
