TWELVE MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Friday, February 18, 1935 Group To Attend Pre-Legislative Meeting in Ashland A delegation of 12 Medford Senior Hi-Y and Senior Tri-Hi-Y members will attend the annual YMCA pre-legislative assembly tomorrow at Southern Oregon college in Ashland, according to Bob Jones, secretary of the Med ford YMCA. Head Delegation Heading the local delegation "will be Harold Ashton, presi dent of the Senior Hi-Y, and Eleanor Davis, president of the Senior Tri-Hi-Y. Groups from Medford, Ashland, Grants Pass and Klamath Falls will take part in the assembly. xne program, to oe neia in the college library building, is designed to prepare the clubs for participation in the Oregon YMCA Youth legislature, to be held in Salem during the latter part of April. Registration will be held from 9 to 9:30 a.m., and the program 'will open with a worship serv ice led by Dr. D. Kirkland West, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Medford. House com mittee meetings will start at 10 a.m. At that time, bills drafted by the various clubs will be con sidered. The Medford clubs will present a measure relating to wages and hours. A luncheon will be held in 'Susanne Homes hall starting at 11:30 a.m. and will be followed by introduction of candidates for speaker of the house, chap lain of the house, committee chairmen and reporters, wno "will give talks. Mock House Session -; The afternoon will be de- ' voted to a mock session of the house during which , club mem bers will attempt to pass their proposed bills. "Mother of Two Learns Husband Really Brother Hereford, England (U.R) Two young orphans, who fell in love at first sight and were mar ried,' learned after the birth of their second son that they were brother and sister, the tearful mother said today. The story of the tragedy was told by - 24-year-old Marjorie Hughes, who separated five months ago from her husband brother Geoffrey Hughes: 23, a timber cutter, after an anony mous tipster told her of her true identity. The mixup began in 1934 when their mother died and the three sisters and three brothers were . sent to separate county homes. Marjorie, barely three years . old at the time, was adopted by a family named Stanham and was known from then on as Marjorie Stanham. They were married Sept 13, 1951, and had two children, Robert, 3, now in the Hereford Hospital with bronchitis, and Michael, who was born five months ago. It was at the time of Michael's birth an unknown women telephone and suggested they look at their birth certifi cates. "I know Marjorie had a terri ble shock when she saw the . names of the parents on both our birth certificates were the same," Geoffrey said. "She was deathly white and it was a ter rible upset to me." "It was horrible," Marjorie said in a separate interview. They separated then, Geoffrey returning to the home of his father who had since remarried, while legal experts studied the case. The couple has asked an annulment. . "It all happened because I gave the name Stanham, the only name I knew, on the mar riage certificate," Marjorie. said today between sobs.
