Rebuttals Opened In Hillsboro Trial Hillsboro, Ore. (U.R) Rebut tals were opened by the state today in the murder trial of 17-year-old Jerry Dodele, a Timber youth accused of shooting a 64-year-old Timber railroad me chanic last Nov. 11. Defense Attorney Irwin Good man rested his case yesterday afternoon after Dodele testified that he had drunk eight or nine bottles of beer against his will the afternoon of Nov. 11. He testified he then went home and said he didn't remem ber what happened that night. He said he didn't recall borrow ing a .22-calibre rifle from Ric ardo Marquez, a Timber neigh bor, before going home. District Attorney James Gard ner said the case would probably go to the jury on Monday. Listed as a medical patient is Julius Manke, route 2, box 38A, Med ford. - Plan Dancer Jackson County Shrine club will hold the annual spring dance tomorrow night at 8:30 o'clock in the basement of the Medford hotel. Dancing will be from 8:30 p.m. until 1 a.m. to the music of I. A. Mirick's orchestra and entertainment has been planned. A buffet supper will be served beginning at 11:30 p.m. Women are to wear formal dress, but formal attire is op tional for men. The dance is for Shriners only. Services Saturday At Klamath Falls For John McCall Klamath Falls Funeral serv ices will be held here Saturday for John Applegate McCall, grandson of Lindsay Applegate. Mr. McCall died Wednesday in Klamath Falls. M.rMcCall was born in Ash land on Jan. 9, 1875, the son of Capt. John Marshall McCall and Theresa Applegate McCall. His grandfather, Lindsay Ap plegate, and his grandfather's brother, Jesse Applegate, led a party of explorers in the spring of 1846, to locate a wagon road for immigrants to Oregon by way of Fort Hall on the Snake river. Mr. McCall's uncle, Capt. Oliver Applegate, was for a time editor of the Ashland Tidings, in which Lindsay Applegate's report of the expedition was published in 1877 and 1878. John Applegate McCall lived in Ashland until his early 20's, when he moved to Redding, Calif., as an agent with the Wells Fargo company. Later he lived in St. Helena, Calif., be fore moving to Klamath Falls. - Among the survivors are his wife, Ruby Hillis McCall, Klam ath Falls; a sister, Lydia T. Mc Call, and a foster sister, Mrs. Anna Wagner, both of Ashland. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, from O'Hair's Memorial chapel. Klam ath Falls Lodge 77, AF & AM will be in charge of rites. Grave side services and interment will be in the old Ashland cemetery.' Obituaries BESSIE SLEETH Funeral services for Mrs. Bes sie B. Sleeth, 66, of Williams, who died at her home Wednes day, will be held at Perl funeral home Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. D. E. Millard of ficiating. Interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial park. The deceased, a resident of southern Oregon for the past 25 years, was born at St.. Louis, Mo., on Jan. 12, 1889. . Liquor Commission Employee Resigns Salem (U.R) Officials of the Oregon Liquor Control Commis sion today declined to identify a commission employee who re signed after being charged with solicitation of a bribe. They said the unidentified employee had denied the charge. A report disclosing evidence of padded expense accounts and acceptance of gifts by employees was made public here yesterday by Gov. Paul Patterson who said he had personally delivered the report to the Multnomah county district attorney. An investigation was ordered months ago by Gov. Patterson when, commission employees were under fire for accepting gifts from distillery interests.
