It was the 13th stamp in the 14th horizontal row of the sheet, but it isn't among the most valuable of my collection." , ; . Mr. Murgatroyd picked up the stamp in his fingers. : "I treasure it because my fa ther gave it to me when I start ed my collection this and some others that I've traded off." .The stamp was a black , on white, one penny item, with a bust of the young Queen Vic- , toria facing left. In the two 1 lower corners were the letters N and M. ' " 'Those letters are how you tell where the stamps came from in the sheet," resumed Mr. Mur- ; gatroyd. "In case you don't know, N is the 14th and M the 13h letter in the alphabet. "Years ago, I bought over 1,000 used copies of it. Cost me nearly $25 and I forgot about 'em for a long time till around 1825 when my grandchildren were coming pretty far along."
