Nearly 40,000 new cases were reported last year, and founda tion leaders estimate a minimum 24,000 new victims will ; be stricken in the year ahead. He said the National Foundation for Infantile Paraly sis feels it is on the threshold of stamping out polio but more money is needed if the import ant work is to continue. Even if the vaccine is success ful and is made available with in the next year, there are 74, 000 patients who were stricken in other years and who are look ing toward the Foundation for care, the chairman said. In Jackson county alone 29 patients received March of Dimes assistance last year amounting to about $6,000 Soil Conservation District Sets Meeting Rogue Soil Conservation dis trict will hold its annual session on Thursday Jan. 13, at Central Point Grange hall. The meeting will ooen at 8 p.m. The past year will be reviewed and the j future program of the district outlined. This expansion acts to check the "ground swells' which lead to a major depression, Dr. Wood ell said.
