' Transferred Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zedaker left last eve ning for Beno, Nev., where Zedaker has been transferred by United Air lines. He was a station agent here and in Reno he will -be in charge of the ticket office. . To Rose Bowl Mr. and Mrs. Hugh H. Coleman and daughter, Carol, and son, James, left Wed nesday for Pasadena, Calif., where they will attend the Rose Bowl game on New Year's day. They planned to visit at San Francisco en route south. To East-West Several valley people have left for San Fran cisco to - attend the East-West football game there New Year's day. Included are Mr.' and Mrs. Bill Schei of Crater Inn motel, who drove, and Mr. and Mrs. George Gates, who left today by plane. Visiting Here Miss Georgia Cason, Little Rock, Ark., arrived in Medford last week to visit relatives and friends. She is staying at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Pool at 1649 Grand ave. Miss Cason, an insurance representative, is considering moving to the valley. '.. To Game Among those leav irig the end of the week for San Francisco to attend the East- West football game will be Mr. and Mrs. William Peek and Mr and Mrs. : Eugene Ferrell, who will, drive down together. The Peeks and their family returned Monday evening from Portland where they visited relatives dur ing the holiday week end. Visits Mother Mrs. Alfred McDonald, Coos Bay,, visited here through the Christmas holi days with her mother, Mrs. Lot tie Allen, and with the Walter Allen family. On Christmas day she was with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McDonald, Eagle Point, and their children. Mrs. Enid Rank in, the mother of Mrs. Bruce McDonald," also was with the family., - Attorney 111 Irving C. Allen, Medford attorney, is confined to a Portland hospital as the result of a heart attack, friends here said today. Mr. and. Mrs Allen and their two children were visiting in Portland for the Christmas week end when he was taken ill. Mrs. Allen and his sister from Portland are ex pected to arrive here Friday and then return to Portland. Friends said that Allen may be hos pitalized for about two or three weeks. ' - . Return Home Howard Huenergardt and his sister, Miss Myrna Huenergardt, - have left after visiting through the Christ mas holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Huener gardt, route 1, box 483. The son now is taking medical training at Loma Linda, Calif., at the Col lege of Medical Evangelists, and Miss Huenergardt . completed nurses training last August. Bike Licenses Due City po lice today requested that all youngsters owning bicycles ob tain licenses for them before resumption of school on Jan. 3. Bike licenses may be obtained at the police department in the city hall. Business Name Earl W. Etters and Geraldine M. In Hospital Miss Janyce Rosecrans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Rosecrans, rt. 1, box 92A, Gold Hill, is a patient in Osteopathic hospital follow ing surgery yesterday, the hospi tal reported this morning. In the same hospital for medical care are Mrs. Eugene Hicks, Grants Pass; Arthur E. Brown, 616 Beatty st., Medford, 'and Mrs. Lloyd Smith, Rogue River. Smoke Alarms Neighbors of the H. C. Martins, 829 Bennett st., called firemen about 2:10 p.m. - yesterday reporting what appeared to be,a flue fire. East side station firemen who inves tigated said that the Martins were burning Christmas decora tions, which was the cause of considerable smoke . from the fireplace flue. Wallboard and sheeting at the stovepipe en trance to the chimney were ig nited from an overheated flue at the Robert McAulley resi dence, 236 DeBarr ave., yester day. ' 2.45 , Jail Sentence Given For Theft of Vacuum Joseph Gilford Shadden, 53, general delivery, Medford, yes terday was sentenced to six months in the county jail on a charge of petty larceny, accord ing to district court records. Shadden pleaded guilty to the charge, which involved theft of a vacuum, cleaner from Mrs. Mattie E. Clause. District Judge Rawles Moore reserved the right to parole Shadden after 30 days. The commission said more than 5,800,000 persons made use oi new facilities, redeveloped and newly opened state park areas during the year. Bur rell, 28, who died last week in Durango, Colo., will be held in Conger-Morris chapel Monday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. D. Kirk land West, D.D., of the First Presbyterian church, officiating. Interement .will be in Siskiyou Memorial park. Pall bearers will be Gordon Talbott, Wilburn Ward, Dr. Gene Chamberlain, Jack Chamberlain, Merton Bradshaw and Gordon Stanley. The deceased was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Tererro, N. M. He had lived in Lake Creek, and graduated from Eagle Point high school. He left "southern Oregon about two years ago. On June -21, 1948, in Reno, Nev., he was married "to Marie Boliou who survives. He was a member of the ' Presbyterian ' church in Santa Fe, N.M. '. ' Other-survivors include three sons, Michael, Mitchell . and Malcolm, a daughter, Melinda, a sister, Celestia Kir ker, Paso Robles, Calif.; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur R. Burrell, Lake Creek. JOSEPH FAIRFIELD Funeral services for Joseph M. Fairfield, 79, who died Tues day, will be held in Camp White chapel Friday at 9 a.m. with Chaplain Henry W. Ander son officiating. Interment will be in Camp White cemetery, with Conger-Morris funeral home in charge of arrangements.
