Hit and Run Donald Everett Fredenburg, 341 South Stage rd., reported to city police yes terday that he was involved in a hit and run accident on South Riverside ave. Fredenburg's ve hicle received damage to its left front fender, while the other un identified vehicle left the scene of the accident without stopping. Accident A moving vehicle driven by Allen Wann Ford, 200 West Jackson st., struck a park ed car registered to O. R. Emig, 16 Glen Oak court, at about 10 p.m. yesterday, according to city police. The accident occurred on East Sixth st., between Central ave. and Front st. and no cita tions were issued, they added. Promoted Charles W. Cook Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Cook, 143 Kenwood ave., has been promoted to sergeant in a signal service battalion station ed in Japan, according to in formation received by his par ents. The young man, who saw service during the fighting in Korea and was injured while driving an ammunition truck, has been overseas for an ex tended period. . Car Theft Medford city po lice reported today that a . car theft occurring here last night was cleared with the arrest of Flbyd R. - Hanscomb, 35, at Yreak. Clowers, Phoe nix, and was taken from North Front st. about 10:30 p.m. Yreka authorities are holding Hans comb on a vagrancy charge pending disposition of the case by Medford. - . Bed Catches Fire A bed too close to an electric , wall heater caught fire early this morning at Pulver's motel, 1237 North Riverside ave. Firemen said that the fire was confined to the bed but that there was some smoke damage to the motel unit. Two trucks were sent to Pulver's at 12:10 a.m. One pump er was sent to Southern Oregon Title company, 34 South Fir st., about 8:10 a.m. today to in vestigate cause of smoke. Howard R. Stinson, attor ney for the compact commission, made a counter argument to each point. The session was largely devot ed to an explanation of the back ground and meaning of compact articles. About 40 persons at tended. : . The proposed compact must be approved by legislatures of the seven western states. Under the proposed terms.
