Another ancient manuscript, the Calendar of Philocalus, which appeared in 354 A.D., tells us: "In the Year One After Christ, the Lord Jesus was born on Dec. 25, a Friday, and the 15th day of the New Moon." However, according to astron omy, in the year 1 A.D., Dec. 25 fell on Sunday. In most countries of Western Europe December 6 is celebrated and begins .a long holiday sea son. The Armenian Christmas is observed on Jan. 6. In the United States we accept the word of the ancient writers and . celebrate Christmas on Dec, 25, regardless of the day of the week on which it falls.
