Newspaper Page TextOak -Grove School Announces Plans For Open House The November meeting of Oak Grove " Parent-Teacher associa tion. will be held in conjunction with the annual open house at the school Friday evening, No vember 19. Registration will start jn the hallway of the main entrance beginning at 7:15 p.m. and will be followed by a guided tour of the builders and informal visits with the instructional staff. Following the informal visits, all parents, teachers and students will assemble in the gymnasium at which time a welcome will be extended by Student Body Pres ident Robert Plankenhorn. After group singing by the students, parents and teachers will move to the . .various- clossrooms for adult class work. Students will remain in the gymnasium for movies. After the adult class discussions, the regular meeting of the narent-teacher association will bu held in the school cafe teria. The meeting is to be fol lowed by refreshments prepared by the mothers of the sixth grade pupils under the direction of Mrs. James H. Hopkins. , Mrs, Gertrude Stanley Hostess for Meeting Of Eagle Point Group Eagle Point The November meeting of Eagle Point Exter sion unit was held at the home of Mrs, Gertrude Stanley, with, the chairman,' Mrs. Don Anderson, presiding. Much interest was shown in the project lesson, "Embossing Thhi Metal," led by Mrs. A T. Wattenberg and Mrs. Vernon Bonebrake. Each, woman, was given the opportunity to com plete a small picture in copper. During the business meeting Mrs. T. H. Shearin gave a report on fire hazards in the home and precautions to take to prevent fires. "Visitors for the day were Mrs. James Clarke, Mrs. C. R. Elbert and Mrs. F. E. Lamb. The unit voted to take food for a gift box to the December meeting instead of having a gift exchange. ' A table of party favors, cor sages and centerpieces was ex i hibited by Mrs. John Ousterhout. All were made from Christmas seals. - Co-hostesses for the day were Mrs. Otto Nagle and Mrs. Earle Jossy. - -.'"J ' The December meeting will be at the home of Mrs. ' Edward Chamberlain. The project will be "appetizing meals from canned or stored foods." , Librarian Talks For Lodge Meeting Mrs. Lois Martin, librarian, spoke for a meeting of Women of the Moose held November 10 at the Moose hall. . Mrs. Martin, chief librarian for Medford Junior High school and grade Schools, spoke of the importance of good books for children. Initiation - ceremonies were held foe Mrs. Ed Gaines; Following the meeting refresh ments were served by the Library committee. Mrs. Mirl Morse was chairman of the evening. A stim ulus to the intelligent manage ment of money by women is to be found in the new finance guide announced today by the American Association of Univer sity Women. Titled "Finance Folder," the attractive guide was authorized by the AAUW Status of Women Committee to supple ment the association's popular "Money Management" portfolio of last year. The purpose of the two guides, according to the committee, is to overcome the helplessness which many women feel in dealing with unfamiliar financial problems. The new folder, produced es pecially for AAUW members by the editors of "Changing Times," the Kiplinger magazine, is also available to the general public. It contains four study units giv ing answers to concrete problems on borrowing wisely; investing on a small cale; health, fire, auto, and liability insurance; and budgeting, spending, and keep ing of family records. A handy check list for record ing important financial informa tion for the family is a bonus feature of the Folder. , AAUW Announces Session Wednesday Medford Branch, American Association of University ' wo men, will meet Wednesday, No vember 17, at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. R. B. Temple, 2146 Hill crest road. Mrs. Justin Smith, chairman of the AAUW evening international relations study group, is in charge of the meet ing theme of "International Re lations." ' ! . Branch requirements for mem bership are determined by Na tional AAUW. Membership chairman of the local branch, Mrs. Emerson Anderson, 2-2134, will explain these requirements to anyone interested in becom ing a member of AAUW. A covered dish luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. and no table service is re Talisman Temple ; Gives Reception ' For Grand Senior Mrs. Harry Bryant, member of Talisman temple, Pythian Sisters lodge, who was named grand senior at the last session of the grand jurisdiction of Ore gon, was honored at a reception given by the temple Sunday aft ernoon at the Pythian building. Almost 100 attended the event. Present for the reception" was Mrs. Ella Roper, Grants Pass, a past grand chief for Oregon and also a past supreme repre sentative. Mrs. Harry Barneburg, Med ford, was mistress of ceremon ies. Mrs. Richard Schuchard sang, and a group of pupils from the Prentice accordion studios played! A ballet number was given by Rosemary , Tokar and Sylvia Mae Smith. Mrs. Margaret Davis is most excellent chief of the temple. Mrs. Bryant, who wore a gown of rose colored lace and crepe, was presented a green orchid corsage from the degree staff of the temple. The presen tation was made by Glenna Fel kel, royal princess of Rosebud council, Pythian Sunshine Girls. Bouquets of white chrysan themums decorated the hall, and other appointments were in sil ver and blue. Talisman . Rosebud council will hold a special session Sat urday, November 20, at 2 p.m. in the Pythian building. It is an nounced that business which must be transacted by Decemb er 1 will come before the coun cil. ...
