TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE , Newiyweds Travel South On Honeymoon Mr. and Mrs. WUUa Grant . Herman made their wedding trip to San Francisco and now are at home at 800 West Main St. Their marriage was an event of October 9 at the Four Square : Gospel church. The bride is the former Miss Betty Mae Walden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Walden, 807V4 West Second st. 1 The bridegroom is a son of Charles V. Herman, route 2, box 23, Jacksonville. . The Rev,: R. H. Mathewson read the rites at 8 o'clock in the evening. Dahlias and white stock dec- . orated the church and Miss Fat Pinnlger furnished the wedding songs, accompanied by Mrs. Ralph Turner. Mrs, Wayne Rosa was matron of hpnor and Mr. Rose was best man. The ushers were Charles Herman Jr., brother of the bride groom, and Mr. Turner. - - The bride wore a satin ballerina-length gown with elbow length veil and headdress trim' med in white stock buds. She carried a 'white Bible covered with gardenias. J. L., Walden gave bis sister in marriage. The matron of honor' was gowned in pink netted lace, bal lerina length, and her headdress matched that of the bride's. She carried a bouquet of pink car- ; nations. . . . ' The reception was held at Girls Community club and was given by the bride's sisters, Mrs. R. B. Wylder, and Mrs. E. , Leighton. . - . '. " . The bride Is" 1SS3 graduate of Medfprd Senior high school and Is a telephone operator for the, Pacific Telephone and Tele graph company, The bridegroom was graduat ed from Medford Senior High school in 1849 and is employed by the post office department as :. a postman, ' Plan Four Teas For Candidate Four neighborhood teas are being planned ; Tuesday after noon for Charles O. Rprter, Eu gene, candidate for the United States House of Representatives. He will esesk at each concern- ins trade relations and foreign affairs and will conduct brief question and answer periods.. One of the hostesses will be Mrs. Harlan P. Bosworth Jr., 2425 East Main street, who has scheduled the tea at her home at 2:80 p.m. Another will be at the home of Mrs. W. G. The tea and exhibit have been planned as an educational ven ture to awaken a wider interest in the ancient lore of herbs ana to encourage their culture and use in homegardens. Several varieties of herb tea are to be served, and the dry herbs from which they are made will be exhibited. Articles made from herbs will be for sale, each nttonrilnff will be pre sented a favor and a program of music is also planned. Voyage Parties Honor Travelers Dr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Em mens were hosts Friday evening for a bon voyage party which honored Mrs. Julie Jones and Mrs. Edward H. Collins. The two leave Monday for San Francisco and Miami, Fla., and from Miami will tour islands of the Caribbean area by air. The party, a cocktail event, was held at the Emmens' home on Modoc avenue and about SO guests attended. The honored guests were presented a shower of small gifts. Thursday evening ; Mr. an Mrs. George Rasmussen were hosts for a small dinner which honored Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Collins, entertaining . at their home, 21 Acorn way. The two travelers plan to vis- It Haiti, the Dominican Repub lic, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Is lands, Martinique, Barbados, Granada and Trinidad. The trip from San Francisco to Miami will be by train. Officer and Wife Honored at Dinner Eagle Point Mr. and Mrs. Roy Swan were hosts for a din ner Wednesday evening which honored Commander John Dale Hodapp and Mrs. Hodapp. Mrs. Swan is a" sister of the com mander, who is in charge of the Indian island Navy munition depot in Washington. Sunder, October 24, 1954 Ceremony in Wimer Church Weds Couple Roaue River Mr. and Mrs. John Arden Tyrrell, whose wedding was an event of Sep tember 25, are living at Siski you summit. The bride Is the former Miss Ruth Charlene Da vis, the daughirr of Mrs. Ruth E. Davis or Rogue River. The bridegroom is a son of Arden M. Tyrrell, also of Rogue River. ' The ceremony took place at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at Wimer Community church. The Rev. Joseph Bowdoin, Shady Cove, read the rites. About 100 guests attended. - Mrs. Donald Lehrmann, Grant Pass, a sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Brides maids were Miss Beth Buck and Miss Jaren McCoy, of Rogue River. La Vena Hardin, also of Rogue River, a cousin of the bride was flower girl, and Sharon Bowdoin, Shady Cove, a niece of the bridegroom, was ring bearer. Donald Lehrmann, a brother in-law of the bride, was best man. Donald Collins, Central Point, and Jim Dodson, Ashland, were ushers. Howard Baker of Rogue Riv er, an uncle of the bride, gave her in marriage. She wore a grey suit and her corsage was of white carnations with red rosebuds.- . . The matron of honor and the bridesmaids wore suits in pastel shades and their corsages were of white carnations. Richard Mlckealis, furnished the wedding songs, accompanied by Mrs. Mainwaring. -A reception as held in the church annex, and weaaing re freshments were served. The bride attended Rogue River high school and the bride groom attended Prairie Bible In stitute in Canada. He is employ ed by M. C. Morton, a logger. Two Couples Hosts . For Party beries Dr. and Mrs.-O. J. Mawotn and Mr. and Mrs. Walter A, Graff Jr.. are entertaining at a series of parties this month. Last weekend the couples gave a dinner, another was given last night and next weekend they have planned a cocktail party. The events are being given at the Halboth home, 2410 Hill- crest road, and the Graft's home on Hillside drive. ' Miss Jean Runtz Returns to City ; Miss Jean Runtz, who spent the past several months In Ha waii, has returned to Medford. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs Frank J. The new members, introduced al the league's annual anniversary luncheon at Mon Dtiir, are (left to right) Mrs. Robert Temple. League Names Members, Board, Officers Medford Junior Service lea gue last week announced seven new members, newly elected of ficers and the names of new of ficers for the advisory board of the league's kindergarten for hard-of-hearing children. The new members were intro duced at the annual Founder's day luncheon held October. 15 at Mon Deslr inn. They are Mrs. Donald Wood, Mrs. Frank Hope well, Mrs.'L. Scott Ellis, Mrs. Gordon Hudson, Mrs. Philip Lowry, Mrs. George Lewis and Mrs. Robert Temple. . New officers of the league are Mrs. James Keeble, president; Miss Ayres Wed ' To Walter Norum In Home Service Central Point - Miss Beverly Jean Ayres, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ayres, route 2, box 781, Central Point, and Walter A. Norum, son of Mr, and Mrs. Carl Norum, route 2, box 760, Central Point, were married Oc tober 8, at a 4:30 o'clock after noon ceremony. Dr. J. P. Bray, retired Meth odist minister, read the rites at the Bray residence on Lozler lane. For her marriage the bride wore a gray suit with pink ac cessories and her corsage was of rosebuds. Only family members and few friends attended the . cere mony. The bride has been attending Crater High school and the bridegroom, a graduate of Cra ter High school, is on duty with the Navy. The bride will remain in Central Point for the present. Viewi Calif., while the bridegroom is assigned to duty at Moffat field. He attended Medford High school before en tering the Navy. Larson of Berkeley, Calif., ' arrived Friday to visit for about 10 days with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Larson, 45 Quince St. $ 995 Medford .Student is Queen Of Lewis-Clark Homecoming Portland A winsome brown ette from Medford was crowned queen of homecoming Saturday at Lewis and Clark college. She is Miss Priscilla West, talented daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. D. Kirkland West, 52 Ross street. John Bennett, Student body president, performed the royal ritual as a special feature of half time intermission of the L-C-Western Washington ' college football game at Grlswold sta dium. Miss West was elected queen from among four class candidates. ,. Among her numerous activ ities last week were appearances on television and radio inter views. Friday evening she rode with her court of three princesses in the float parade through down town Portland streets. In addition to coronation cere monies, Saturday's schedule for the royal court included a lunch eon at the Aero club with mem bers of Theta Kappa sorority, and dinner as guests of the alumni association at the annual homecoming banquet on the campus. In the evening Queen Priscilla was seated on a special throne at the traditional student alumni dance in the college gym nasium. Royal titles are not new to Miss West, better known to her friends as "P2". She reigned as prom queen in her senior year at Medford Senior High school and last spring' was chosen sweetheart of the junior class prom at the college. A versatile musician, she plays the piano, the cello and the organ and sings In the college choir, which has appeared sev eral times in Medford. She di rects ,the choir of Palatine Hill Community Presbyterian church and is now busy rehearsing the chorus of the college musical, "Lost in the Stars." Born in China, Queen Priscil la plans to attend San Anselmo Theological seminary following graduation from Lewis and Clark.
