Patty Eggers, a pros pective member, wu introduced to Medford Sojourners' club at Thursday's meeting at the" Med ford hotel. Mrs. Henry J. Brooby was welcomed as a new member. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. Randall B. Gibson, Mrs. Larry E. Juniper and Mrs. Curt C. StockstiU. "School Days" was the them for the meeting. The dessert ta ble was centered with a bouquet of pink button chrysanthemums with ices arranged on tiered lazy Susans on each side. Name tags were little red school-houses numbered for the different school districts. . Bouquets of roses and petunias were used to decorate the room. Special awards went to Mrs. Randall B. Gibson, Mrs. Henry J. Brophy and Mrs. D. D. Ear hart. Plans were discussed for the clubs' semi-annual guest day, which will be September 24 at 12:30 at the Medford hotel. This meeting will be a dessert lunch eon, with the board members act ing as hostesses. Members may bring as many guests as they wish to this meeting. Mrs. Jerry Adlfinger, phone 2-8024, is in charge of reserva tions, which must be made in ad vance. Cards were played with pi nochle awards going to Mrs. Kenneth L. Kllnge and Mrs. Larry E. Juniper. Bridge prizes were won by Mrs. Frank E. English and Mrs. Howard J. Boyd and canasta awards were won by Mrs. Brophy and Mrs. Jerry Adlfinger. Nurse Takes Position At Medford Hospital; Friend Visits Here Miss D'Ann Beck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Beck, Old Stage road, began work Septem ber 8 as a nurse in Medford Sacred Heart hospital surgery. She was graduated in June from the nursing school of Los An geles County General hospital where she was a student nurse for three years. Miss Beck com pleted her training in August and was home for a week before returning to Los Angeles to take state board examinations. She was accompanied on the trip by her mother and they re turned to Medford August 28. Miss Beck is a graduate of Medford Senior High school. Miss Hester McLaws, Seattle, visited last week end at the Beck home. She was en route to Seattle from Los AnnlM where she and Miss Beck had been classmates. Leaders Chosen for Lake Creek Extension; Projects Announced Lake Creek Project leaders for the year for Lake Creek Home Extension unit were se lected during a meeting Septem ber 2 at the home of Mrs. J. L. Davidson. The meeting was de voted to organization for the year and program planning. Year books were filled but Projects for the year include gifts made from cloth; becom ing a good buyer; buffet meals; care of the hair; interior wall finishes; understanding the teen ager; flower arrangement, and election and use of home ac cessories. Jackson street returned Wednes day from an extended visit in the east At Chautauqua, li. Y, she sang in the choruses of sev eral operas including "Merry Widow," "Faust," "Tales of Hoff man," "La Boheme," and "Don Giovanl." The eight-week season also included a number of con certs and recitals. This was her second year of attendance at the Chautauqua music season. Visits were made to relatives in Cleveland. Ohio, and to friends in Reading. Pa. Follow ing a short trip to New York and Philadelphia, Miss Anderson returned to Medford via United and Southwest airlines. Miss Anderson will leave Mon day for her final year irf music education at the University of Oregon, where she is preparing for the teaching of high school music as her career. Pythian Sisters Plan Dedication For Lodge Altar Pythian Sisters will dedicate a new altar at a meeting set for Tuesday, September 15, at 8 p. m. at the Pythian building. Officers are asked to wear formal gowns. The meeting will also be the fall birthday party. Committee for the, evening is Mrs. Max Hawks, Mrs. Delia Littlefield and Mrs. Leroy Cline. Pythian club met Tuesday eve ning at the Girls Community club with 15 members present After .the meeting cards were played with Mrs. Mabel Nichol son winning first prize and Mrs. Margaret Davis last. Mrs. Helen Keesee won an additional prize. The committee for the evening was Mrs. Martha Miller and Mrs. Belle Whitney, Past Chiefs' club will meet Wednesday,. September 18, at 1 p. m. for a potluck luncheon at the home of Mrs. 'Max Hawks, Shady Cove. Members desiring transportation are asked to call Mrs. Joe Cook at 3-9009. The ceremony took place at eight o'clock in the evening with the Rev. Hardwick than 200 guests attended. . Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Alan C. Cameron, 905 Stewart avenue, .Medford, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr, and Mrs. Charles Rider of cen tral Point. The bride was given in mar riage by her father. Her dress was of white net and lace worn with, a fingertip length veil of net and lace trimmed with seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of white gladiolus and stephanotis arranged with ivy. Maid of honor was Miss Janet Monia and bridesmaids were Miss Ruth Jones and Miss Mer ilyn Doty. They wore pastel green dresses of net and lace and carried bouquets of white gladiolus with ivy. The flower girt Patricia Harris, was dressed in white and carried white gladiolus. The ring bearer was Roy Rider, brother of the bridegroom and best man was Thomas Thomas, Central Point, cousin of the groom. Ushers were Carl Burk and Jack Boardman. , Mrs. Charles A damson was organist, a violin solo was played by Miss Carol Ellison and Mrs. J. C. Kaylor was vocalist The church aisles were dec orated with ivy streamers tied with white satin bows and a bell. Candelabra holding tapers and large baskets of white glad iolus, ivy and ferns decorated the church. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the home of the bride's parents. Mrs. W. H. Dixon and Mrs. J. W. Bpggs, aunts of the bride, and Mrs. S. Sandberg and Mrs. R. H. Harris served hors d'ouvres, cake and punch at a table decor ated with tall white tapers and white gladiolus. Danny Dixon and Byron Dixon gave accordion solos during the reception. The bride's parents both grew up in the Rogue River valley, and for the past ten years have lived in Medford. The bride at tended the Medford schools, graduating with the 1953 class at senior high school. The bridegroom and his fam ily have resided at Central Point for the past five years, and he is employed by Medford Awning and Top Works. He and his bride will be at home in Central Point Sorority To Give Tea for Rushees Mrs. Russell Roseborough, 151 Highland .drive, will be hostess this afternoon for tea from 2 to 4 p.m. for rushees and members of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority Miss Doris Drost 801 East Main street was hostess for a regular business meeting of the sorority held September 3. Mrs. W. H. Fischer explained steps used in textile painting. The next regular meeting will be a movie, "What's New in Cooking," with Dr. Ida Bailey Allen. The picture will be shown September 17 at the YMCA building. Guests may attend. Grants Pass Woman To Entertain Group Cebu swamp, Military Order of the Lizards, will meet with Grants Pass members Sunday, September 20 at 1:30 p. m. at the home of Mrs. Ted Cotter, route 2, box 354, Grants Pass. A pre-convention social Is planned for Friday evening, Septem ber 48. "CPS The Secretary-Management" is the convention theme selected by Miss Margaret Hese mann, Laramie, Wyo., North western 'diatrict vice-president who will be honor guest at the meeting. During her stay in Medford Mist Hesemann will ap pear on television and partici pate in radio program. Jackson hotel will bo head quarters and all convention act ivities are to bo held there. No program is planned for Saturday morning so that the time may be spent sightseeing, shopping or visiting. A luncheon meeting is planned for Saturday afternoon, at which time the three speak ers will be Mrs. Mabel Winston, dean of women and registrar at Southern Oregon college; Pro fesors Alwin Miller, chairman of the secretrial science department of the college, and a member of the CPS Institute. An Informal banquet Saturday night will climax the session and the convention will close with a breakfast meeting Sun day morning. NSA chapters in Eugene, Port land, Salem, Port Richard, Wash, Olympia, Seattle, Spo kane and Wenatchee are includ ed in Region I. About 40 dele gates are expected. : Mrs. Kathryn Thomas is gen eral chairman of arrangements for the event and Mrs. Janice Long is president of the hostess chapter. Final plans for the district session were made at a meet ing held Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Fabrick. ' Mr. Fabrick grilled hamburgers and helped to pre pare dinner which was served in the patio. During the session, the club voted to allow guests to attend any portion of the con : ' jfeSf fx vention in which they might bo interested, including Sunday's business meeting. Announcement was made that the annual membership meeting would be held October 8, and "Boss Night" is scheduled for November with Mrs. Mary Jane Pennington jischaJrman, Birthday Party Held by Lodge; Plan Initiation Members with birthdays in July, 'August and September were honored by songs when Olive Rebekah lodge met Mon day. Birthday cake was served during a covered dish dinner. Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Howard, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Naffziger and Mrs. Sara, Redden had charge of the dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Harold S.
