Then they be gin to let their work slip and their homes and families suffer. What is the husband to do under such conditions, this young hus band asks: (Q) "Can a man be happy wilh his wifa when sho novar tries to keep a house clean or cook meals like other wires do? My wife remains in bed through the day while I work. Then I come home to a mess. When I am out of town work ing, she chases from one tav ern to another, and leaves the children alone at home. The children hate the way we quarrel and it disturbs them to grow up in a home like this. I know if she was a good housekeeper and a good moth er, we could make a go of our marriage. She has refused to cook for me now so there's nothing for me to go home to except my two sweet children. Would you advise a divorce?" In vour case ui. nurioc the COurt would award your wife the cus tody of your two children unless you could prove that she was un fit to be their mother. Then they would be awarded to you. How could you take care of them properly while you were work ing and would you be satisfied to have them under the sole care of your wife, when she has neglected them and her home? Try more forceful tactics to save your marriage. Tell your wife her job is to run the home and take care of the children. Unless she js willing to do this, you will not give her your earn ings but will use the money to provide outside help for your children. Not more than a dozen people broke in to re Dr. Brady cite their histories and symp toms, mostly to my deaf ear, and onlyethree or four tried to en tice me into a service'elub lunch meeting. I was basely left alone with the usual number of well fixed widows who had found wonderful new remedies or treatments for exhausted nerves or fancy kinds of rheumatiz. I was introduced by a soft-spoken southern gentleman to a Mr. Madden who owned one of the finest horse-breeding farms in Kentucky and I managed to per suade Mr. Madden to accept a small bundle of dough to place for me on an animal called Jet Dandy or something of the kind, to run in the fourth at Sucker brook. For the life of me I can't explain how this happened, nor why I never saw Mr. Madden or the urbane southern gentleman again. In Elmira I met a young man whom, I understand, I brought into the world when I was an honest doctor there. At any rate his mother sent me a certified copy of his birth certificate, signed by one Wm. Now, when our babies were born we engaged the best doctor in town as accoucheur; namely, one Wm. His father was a col league of mine the young man is just a new edition of his dad and there were plenty of good doctors, fairly good, that is, so why did his parents- choose the best? I'm plumb delighted to know that the office staff is sufficient ly interested in the question to argue about it. It reminds me that this column was resuscitat ed after a ten-year hiatus in that neck of the woods and prob ably the girls in the office had to grow up without benefit of good health education. Frankly, I'd rather sneak out through the rear patio and tod dle over to the bowling green than try to arbitrate this dispute, but it's too late for the draw now CROSSWORD PUZZLE ACROSS 1 Respond te a stimulus Ancient Black Sea people 11 Place for worship 11 Seat again 14 Entreaty 15 Wavelet II Hawaiian rootstock IT Mominc prayer 1 Ventilate 20 Is mistaken 28 Staff li Transgressions 14 Cooks slowly 16 Arbiter SS Organ of hearing 10 Weight of India 11 Landed properties JS Unexplored areas M Flesn 40 Large truck 42 Fold 43 Those holding office 44 Drain 45 Inlet 47 One who tests food 4S Enervate SI Cubic meters 63 Most domesticated 81 Omit 84 Sting 1 i r"5""r" ia n is i9 iio IT" ' a l - III Li-II III" Vi ZS 777 3i 17 iT"iT"i3" h 7 5s jT" rT" IT" ZZZZWltlMZ-ZZ si a OUt. Instead of forcibly blowing the nose it is better and safer, I think, just to wipe it, or hold the handkerchief under but not up on the nose and permit secretion to drain from the nostrils as you breathe out or expel air through the nose. Do not compress or grasp the nose between thumb and finger, but always leave the nostrils open. Blowing with one or both nostrils compressed is a good way to force possibly infected secretions throught the Eustach ian tube into the tympanum (mid dle ear cavity) and cause otitis media, mastoiditis or other ear trouble.
