i ; - - " - . - " "" Society and Clubs i Picnic Announced For Rogue Archers; Name New Officers Rogue Archers, a new organi zation in Medford, will hold a picnic Sunday, August 17, in Lithia park, Ashland. The event is set for 3:30 p.m. and those attending are to take a contri bution for the potluck picnic dinner. It is stated that an exhibition shoot will be held and ell per sons interested in the sport of archery are invited to attend Those planning to attend are in structed to "follow the bull's- eye" to the shoot event. New officers recently elected by the club are Russel Howard, president; Harry Winthrow, vice president; Ray Morton, secre tary-treasurer; Mrs. Robert Haw kins, publicity manager; Bob Canty, target captain; Floyd Jen kins, field governor. Retiring officers are Joe Wil liamson, president; John A Bruce, vice-president; Mrs. Celia Gist, secretary-treasurer; Floyd Jenkins, field captain; Joseph C. Burns, publicity manager. The election meeting was held at the Howard home, 1028 Mur ray street. Duplicate Bridge Club Holds Weekly Session Medford Duplicate Bridge club held the weekly session Tuesday night at the Medford hotel for regular play. Mrs. George Codding and Mrs. W. W. Stevenson topped the north-south players with a score of 47 points, and second- went to Mrs. Frank R. Baker and George Rode for 44V& points. Third place for north-south play ers went to Roy Pruitt and Wil liams Isaacs, who scored 41 points. Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Sanders took first for east-west players, scoring 60 points, and second went to John Solheim and John Foley for 57 points. Thomas Munds and F. W. Helder were third with 45 points. William Jeffrey Rose Honored With Party William Jeffrey Rose, son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Rose, was honored at a birthday party Saturday, August" 9, which 6 served his first birthday, which was August 10. , invited to the party were Hugh, Cindy and Karen Char ley, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Char ley, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Cooley and son, Roger, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hoffard, Mr. and Mrs. William von der Hellen, Mr. and Mrs. Don Smith and son, Shannon, and Mr. .and Mrs. Loren B. Carter. ... ' Refreshments were served, and the children were presented balloon and noise makers. Week's Sewing Buy Family Night Program Scheduled at YMCA Weekly family night programs and entertainment are continu ing at the YMCA throughout the summer, it was pointed Out yes terday, with families gathering at the building each Friday night. Tonight's activities will begin at 7 p.m. and movies, swimming and refreshments- are .planned. Family members of the "Y" may invite guests to attend. Butte Falls Club To Hear Report Butte Falls Butte Falls Gar den club has scheduled the Aug ust meeting for Tuesday, Aug ust 19, at 1:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Mrs. Leslie Horn, president, will report on the -state conven tion in June which she attended. All members and women in the community interested in gar dening are invited to attend. Dance at Camp . Camp White A VAVS un- sponsored dance will be given at Camp White Monday, Aug ust 18, beginning at 8 p.m., ac cording to - an announcement from the camp. The Camp White orchestra will play. A VA bus will leave the Trails ways depot at 7:30 p.m. to pro vide transportation - for - guests. Costumes Still Scarce I For Foot lighters Play Where have all those Gibson Girl blouses gone?. Attics have been ransacked, the Salvation Army store searched . and rummage stores ! combed to no account. "But somehow the show will go on," laughed Mrs. Earl Knight, as she busily stitched on lush satin and lace ball gown for the siren of the show, while Mrs. Frank Buchter mended lace on a Gay Ninety parasol and Mrs. Jerry Smith sewed a missing button on the villains frock coat. The group have spent the . past weeks gathering cos tumes, not only for actors in the play proper, but for performers in olio acts, for ushers and for peanut and pink lemonade dispensers. All are same to eat raw, which is not true of food grown under ordinary un sanitary, oriental fertilizing. - 4-H-Ers' The Antelope Club had a very suc cessful Fair last Friday and the youngsters have a lot of nice animals. Mearl Kaufman, our Assistant Man ager, was up at the Applegate Fair August 6, and he said that it was quite a success also. These 4-H youngsters are really working hard and getting their animals in shape. I wish that we could have taken in the other local fairs too, but business wouldn't let us. Folks, don't forget the date. Aug ust 20, as that is when our County Fair, opens and it is really going to be a' goodone.
