Duriing .(Distributed by King FtJture Syndicate, IneJ Many men are giving them selves a rejuvenatoin treatment without knowing. An expert says shaving every day aids a man to maintain a youthful appear ance, because the operation ex ercises the face muscles. Advertising Art The most celebrated picture in the field of advertising art is that one titled 'His Master's Voice," painted by Francis Baur raud and featuring his dog "Nip per ."'listening to a phonograph. This picture has appeared in $50,000,000 worth of advertising. Still there are other advertising pictures that stick in the mem ory. Take that one exploiting Scott's Emulsion, the fisherman with the huge fish on his back. Consider the picture advertis ing a perfuaie which shows a violinist planting a passionate kiss on a lovely lady's lips. Then there was that one of Phoebe Snow "About To Go On A Trip To Buffalo." Also that picture of a young fellow featuring a huge grin which advertises Steeple chase Park, Coney Island. That was on the billboards when I was a kid. Passing By -Harold Arlen, songwriter from Buffalo. Responsible for many hits, .best of which is "Stormy Weather." Harold began his pro fessional career as a pianist on Great Lakes steamers . . . Jean Simmons. Petulant cinema lum inary. Note her credited with having popularized that curious hair style known as the "poodle cut," I believe Mary Martin started that . . . "Pop" War ner, great football coach of the yesteryear. "Pop" still says the best player he ever coached was Ernie Nevers and not Jim Thorpe. Says Ernie "was more consistent and dependable" than Jim. I think George Gipp of Notre Dame was a better football player than 'either of them. Among the Married The sixth year of marriage is the most difficult to survive. Af ter that married life runs more smoothly. It is not until the sev enth year that most marriages begin to really click. The fif teenth year, according to stu dents of life among the married, is a dangerous one for women. At that time the wives are inclin ed to become a little flighty. They develop a strong interest in handsome male celebrities. They also have difficulty in mak ing their eyes behave when a good looking' sfc-anger gazes at them. The dangerous age for hus bands is in the early fifties. In fact, one psychiatrist, claims the only way to be absolutely cer tain a husband in his fifties is behaving himself as he should Is to lock him up. Briafly An astonishing number1 of peo ple who consider themselves well informed are unable to state off hand the date of VE day which ended World War II. How about you, sir? ... I can understand why the British have a fondness for fish and chips, but why they are so enthusiastic about jellied eels baffles me. Asides A ring for divorcees is far from a new idea. Thirty years ago there was originated such a ring, the design being a brok en cupid's arrow. It was worn on the same finger as the wed ding ring ... In England the so-called "Wolf Whistle" is il legal. Upon complaint of women whistled at, the offender can be arrested and charged, with "us ing improper gesture to the an noyance of others." In this coun try most women are not annoyed by wolf whistles. In fact they consider it a kind of compliment.
