Frey-RoSerson Service Held in Ashland Sunday Miss Venita Loy Roberson became the bride of George Thomas Frey in a double-ring ceremony performed by the Rev. James Jondrow at the First Presbyterian church of Ashland, Sunday afternoon, August 3. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Roberson, Ash land, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl H. York, 820 East Main street, Med- Dinner Observes Golden Wedding Gold Hill Couple Gold Hill Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crow, Sams Valley were honored on their 50th wed ding anniversary Saturday with a surprise dinner party given by relatives and friends in the maple grove at the Crow home The honored couple was pre sented with many gifts and flowers. Present in addition to the hon ored couple were their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs Evan Crow, and children, Mrs Evan Crow's mother, Mrs. A, Zahn, and Mr. and Mrs. Skip Lyons and children, Eugene; Mr. and Mrs. F. Sackett, Grants Pass; Mr. Crow's sisters, Mrs Laura Carr and Mrs. Josephine Donahue: his brother and sister- in-law ,Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Crow; and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Sackett and seven children, Mer lin; Mr. Crow's brother and sis ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ord Crow, Ashland; and Frank John ston, Gus Michaelson and Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Cooper, Gold Hill. The party also was in celebra tion of Mr. Crow's 78th birth day, which was Sunday. In a setting of white tapers and baskets of cream colored gladiolus, the bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a gown of nylon lace styled with a fitted bodice, long sleeves and skirt of deep net ruffles en train. A Juliet cap trimmed with seed pearls held her finger-tip veil and she carried a bouquet of white rosebuds and stepha-notis. Mrs. William Burdick, sister of the bride from Norwalk, Calif., acted as matron of hon or, and bridesmaids were Miss Susan Drummond, Medford, and Mrs. Eugene Cossette, San An tonio, Texas, and the bride's sister-in-law, Mrs. Winfield Rob erson, Redmond, Ore. They wore ballerina length gowv.s of sky blue embroidered net with stoles, mitts, and Juliet caps. Their flowers were coral pink gladiolus. Acting as best man for the ceremony was John Walker, Medford, and . ushers included James Miller and James Der- sham, both of Eugene, and James Moore, Medford. Duane Carole Maddox sang two solos accompanied by Mrs. George Maddox, and organist was Mrs. R. Lindsey. Mrs. Roberson was attired in an aquamarine afternoon dress with matching accessories and a pink orchid corsage. The bride groom's mother wore an after noon dress of pink lace with matching accessories and a simi lar corsage.- About 200 guests attended the reception held in the church parlors. Mrs. Howard H. May- berry, Portland, served punch, and Mrs. William W. Berry, Seattle, and Mrs. Earl E. Linigu served the cake. All are sisters of the bride. The couple are spending two weeks honeymooning at San Francisco and California beaches. They will make their home at Eugene the first of Sep tember when the bridegroom will attend the University of Oregon as a senior in architec ture. The bride was graduated from Ashland high school and attended Southern Oregon col lege and the University of Ore gon where she was affiliated with Kappa Alpha Theta sor ority. The bridegroom is a grad uate of Medford high school and is a Sigma Chi at the university. Jacksonville Lodge Appoints Committee; Plan Pot luck Dinner Mrs. Louis Jones, Mrs. Scotty Metheny and Mrs. Francis Bris bine were appointed to serve on the finance committee of Ruth Rebekah Lodge at their last meeting held at IOOF hall, Mon day, August 5. Miss Dorothy Jean Kight was voted membership in the lodge. Mrs. Roy Green was appointed as Rebekah's blood bank chairman. It was announced that the Re- bekahs float had taken second place in the Jacksonville Gold Rush Jubilee parade and the lodge received $15 for the honor. The float scene was a quilting bee. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Peter Fick and Mrs. Ernest Evans. Mrs. Isabelle Fox re ceived the white elephant prize. Ruth Rebekah lodge will loin the Odd Fellows lodge of Jack sonville in a potluck dinner at 7 p.m. Friday, August 15. Hinkle The wedding of Miss Mary Jean Heath, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph . E. Heath, Long Beach, Calif., to Charles E. Hinkle, son of Mrs. Reta Hinkle. 403 North Holly street, was an event of June 27. The evening double ring cere mony was held at the Long Beach First Congregational church with the Rev. John Hangen officiating. The bride wore a white srtap- less ballerina gown with orange blossoms sprinkled over the bod ice and skirt, and a duster of transparent nylon net. Her veil, finger-tip length and tiered, was held by a crown of orange blos soms. She carried a white orchid on a white prayer book. Miss Beatrice Mozanoff was maid of honor. Her ballerina style dress was also white and she carried yellow roses. Best man for the ceremony was Frank Sorienello. The bride is a graduate of Long Beach City college and College of Pacific where she was a member of Mu Zeta Rho sor ority and Alpha Epsilon Rho, national honorary radio frater nity. The bridegroom was grad uated from Medford high school and attended the University of Oregon and Southern Oregon college. He will attend the Col lege of Pacific next fall and the couple will make their home on campus while he completes his education. . A. Chapin, Jacksonville, cele brated their golden wedding an niversary Sunday, August 3. Their daughter, Mrs. Grace Grisham and sons, Arnold and Raymond, Ruch, Ore., were there for the celebration, and friends visited them " to offer their congratulations during the day. Two sons of Mr. and Mrs. Chapin, Lyman Chapin, Port land, and Roy Chapin, Carlsbad, Calif., were unable to be in Jacksonville for the anniver sary. Mr. and Mrs. Chapin have been residents of the Rogue River valley since they came to Talent from Central Oregon in 1927. For several years Mr. Chapin was employed by Rogue River company at Suncrest orch ard east of Talent. He worked as a caretaker at Merricks Motor Inn for 13 years and three years ago he retired, making his home in Jacksonville. Gold Hill Church Plans Dedication; To Honor Couple Gold Hill S. Raynor Smith, D.D., Eugene; district superin tendent of the Methodist church conference, will be speaker at the formal dedication services to be held this morning at Community Methodist church. The new church annex, built last year for the accommodation of the grow ing Sunday school classes, will be dedicated. A music program will be fur nished by the male quartet of the First Methodist church of Medford. A potluck dinner will be served at noon, with members of the Women's Society of Chris tian service in charge. Everyone in the community is invited. They are asked to bring pot luck dishes and table service. The afternoon will be devoted to an open house for inspection of the new part of the church building, and a reception for the Rev. and Mrs. H. A. Walker, both of Medford, was honored with a surprise shower at the Girls' Community club, Tuesday eve ning, August 3. The wedding Is planned for late fall. Hostesses for the event were Mrs. William H. Seibert Jr., Burlingame, Calif., and Mrs. John Benson. Entertainment for the party was a mock wedding service with the wedding party consisting of Mrs. Wilson G. Slater acting as the bride; Mrs. Donald L. Bryan, the bridegroom; Miss Thelma Loughary, the bride's father; Mrs. Dick Wyatt, the musician; and Mrs. Benson, the minister. The mock-bride was attired in a pale blue gown, an ecru curtain veil en train, and carried a bou quet of dog fennel, onions, and asparagus greenery. The bare foot, mock - bridegroom wore levis and a white dinner jacket with a boutonniere of radishes, onions, and tiger lily. After the entertainment Miss Erbes opened the gifts from the guests. Refreshments were served from a table decorated with a miniature bride and groom, a wedding ring set, and white tapers encircled by bow knots of snapdragons. The social room was decorated with golden glow, gladiolus, roses and ferns. Guests included Miss Anna May, Miss Pauline Champlin. Miss Eula Wintermote, Miss Ada bee Seiler, Mrs. Herbert L. Friends Here Miss Elizabeth B. . McKay, 316 Crater Lake avenue, entertained friends from Valley City, N.D., the past week. They were Mrs. W. A. Benson and daughter, Miss Marion Ben son. Miss Benson is with the Carnegie Institute of Technol ogy, Pittsburgh,. Perm. She left Friday to travel in California. Mrs. Benson will remain here until the end of the week. The Bensons have been touring the Northwest. Book Review Planned For Fellowship Session Mrs. M. L. Daily will review the missionary book, "Under a Thatched Roof in Brazil" at the meeting of Ladies Fellowship of the First Baptist church, set for Tuesday, August 12, at the home of Mrs. Gilbert Hill, Talent Dessert will be served at 1 o'clock and assisting Mrs. Hill as hostesses will be Mr. Emil Peterson and Mrs. Mark Wright.
