Free Methodist Youth at Camp Several boys and girls from Medford are spending the week at the Rogue River District Youth Camp of the Free Meth odist church, near Crater lake. The young people at the camp represent seven Free Methodist churches in the southern Ore gon area. W. T. Frost, chairman, will talk on "Where Are We Going?" Mrs. Ben Schmidt will tell "What Camp Does for Families." Mrs. John Billings, Ashland, will speak on "The Camp and Our Children" and Mr. Eillings on "Purpose and Plan of Young Adult Family Camp." Mrs. J. C. Harris will sing "In the Cool of the Day." 'How To Be Happy' Discussion Subject Dr. Richard Sleeter will lead the' discussion at the 6:30 p.m. meeting Sunday of the college age Co-ed club at First Presby-4 tenan church. The subject will be i'How To Be Happy Though Human." Carla McKeen will lead the senior high Westminster fellow ship at the same hour on "The Christian's Testimony." Follow ing the evening services all the young people are invited to the Al James home for a fellowship hour. At the 11 a.m. service on Sun day the subject of the sermon will be "It is Time to Seek the Lord." His 7:30 p.m. service sermon will be the second in a series on the 10 Commandments. Week-end Session Planned by Board Of Oregon BPWC Members of the Business and Professional Women's clubs from throughout the state and officers of the Oregon federation will meet in Bend Saturday and Sun- rday, August 9 and 10, for the fall state board meeting. Attending from Medford will be Miss Laura York, state first vice-president, and Mrs. Flor ence Lance, local BPW presi dent. - Headquarters for the board meeting, over which the state president, Miss Fern Trull, Grants Pass, will preside, will be Pilot Butte Inn. A special feature, of the meeting will be reports from delegates attend ing the national biennial con vention in Boston which drew 3000 BPW members. These will be given on Sunday. The session will get underway Saturday with dinner at 6:30 p.m. to be followed by a presi dent's workshop. On Sunday, following an 8:30 a.m. breakfast, a business ses sion will be held. Mis Trull and Mrs. Natalie Bums, Toledo, sec ond vice-president, will discuss the International Federation board meeting in New York City which preceded the biennial convention. Miss York is one of the state officers to report on the Boston meeting during the session. 50th Anniversary To Be Observed Gold Hill Members of Gold Hill Community Methodist church will honor the Rev. and Mrs. H. A. Dierdorff at a recep tion Sunday; August 10, at the church in observance of their golden wedding anniversary. Friends of the couple from all parts of the valley are invited to attend the reception which will be held between the hours of two and four o'clock. Dedication of a new annex for the church will be held during the morning service, followed by a basket dinner in the' church dining room. The Rev. Mr. Dierdorff has been pastor of the Gold Hill church for the past four and one- half years, the couple having come to Oregon in 1949 from the mid-west. ' ' Master Point Night Observed by Club Medford Duplicate Bridge club observed master point night Tuesday. First place winners for the north-south position were Mrs. A. F. Stennett and Paul Hatton, who scored 79 Vi points, and first place for the east-west position were B. L. Sanderson and Budd Gail, who scored 68 points. Marvin Kahn and Thomas Munds tied with Mrs. W. W. Stevenson and T. J. Fuson for second and third place as north south players, each couple scor ing 11 Vi points. Other east-west winners were Mrs. E. Miller and Mrs. Fred Rehling, 66Vi points, and Mrs. Al Gilhousen and Mrs. Alto Pruitt, 65 points. Sams Valley Group Announces Meeting Sams Valley Christian Build ers of Sams Valley Comi -uity church will meet Tuesday, Aug ust 12, at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Virgil Gribble. - for Mrs. Joe Morris Mrs. Joe Morris, 1 South Oakdale avenue, was honored with a shower recently. The party was given in the recrea tional rooms of St. Peter's Lu theran church. Hostesses for .the event were Mrs. Jack Sanders, Mrs. Tom Tarns, Mrs. E. C. Tarns, Mrs. Eddie Rupp, Mrs. Rex Danner, and Mrs. Roland Holmes. Thirty five friends of Mrs. Morris were present. Games were played at the party, and Mrs. Morris was pre sented with shower gifts. Old Indian Prophecy Filled in Nebraska . Lincoln, Neb. (U.R) A Pon ca Indian prophecy of perhaps 1,000 years ago has been fulfill ed. Ninibauxube, the sacred peace pipe of the Ponca Indians, has left the tribe for its final rest ing place with the University of Nebraska. The pipe was present ed to the University by Peter Le Claire, Wewela, S.D., offic ial interpreter for thhe Fonca tribe. Le Claire said it was predicted "perhaps 1,000 years ago," that the peace pipe would leave the tribe. "That day has come now," he said. "I hope the young Ponca will come to see it here. Le Claire, in presenting the pipe to the university, carried out the wish of the last Ponca chieftain, Joe Birdhead, who willed the pipe to the "Big School several years ago. Birdhead ordered the pipe pre sented to the school because he feared his fellow tribesmen would not give it the care and dignity it deserved. According to Ponca tradition the pipe was handed down from father to son, but Birdhead's only child was a girl and by tribal law, she could not take custody of Ninibauxube. St. Louis, Mo. Ro.bert Ness- ler, 22, skidded into big trouble on a wet street. His car caromed off one parked car, which slam med into another, then fetched up against a tree.
