Society and Clubs Girl Scout Camp In Closing Week; Campers on Hikes Low Echo, Girl scout camp at Lake O'Woods, will close Sat urday, August 9, after five weeks of operation. Parents are asked to call for their daughters at about noon, and a sack lunch is being provided for the camp ers. Each week's activities are brought to a close with a cere monial campfire and "wishes for Low Echo" are made. Campers in the senior unit have been wishing for a tent frame, since at present the girls' cots are set cm the ground. Some of the parents are also considering a project whereby ! a tile floor covering would be provided for Beaver lodge, the dining room of the camp. Breezeway unit planned the closing program for the third week of camping, and an inter national program was given. Breezeway unit members dress ed as Hollanders, Sunny Dale as Africans, Conifergrove, North Americans; Pitt View, South Americans; Meadowland, Asia. Each group prepared part of the evening menu, and each pre sented a skit or song. Miss Knox, Pitt View senior unit leader, showed colored slides which she made while ac companying a group of senior scouts to a Girl Scout and Girl Guide jamboree in Sweden a few years ago. A highlight .of the camping season for older scouts is the Mt. McLoughlin hike. Taking the hike were August Krause, staff member from Portland; Virginia Jones, Corona Del Mar, Calif.; Katherine Clabby, staff member from Medford; Harriett Osborn, Portland, and Campers Verna MacDudley, Dinah Hutchinson and Carol Pringle. Campers Roberta Abbey, Shar on Doyle, Beverlee Coalney, Paula Fisher, Pat Hussick, Ros alie Pence, Wilma Parker, San dra Goucher, Ruth Ann Cog- gins and Florence Stacey, ac companied by Joan Dean, Med ford, Jean Hamilton, Central Point and Ann Denman, Med ford, staff members, made ahike to Harriett lake. Those making a hike to Four mile lake were Barbara Roach, Kathy Reagen, Karen Johnson, Linda Norris, Gail Prentice, Jeanne Klatt and Donna Morri son, with Miss Osborne, Nancy McKinstry, Medford, and Anne Hart, Medford, staff members, accompanying them. During the third week at camp the program aids and counselors in training cleared a new games area south of the general Low Echo camp grounds. Passing their swimming tests were Maureen McCurdy, Glenda Kaye, Nancy Bessonette, Pamela Stacey, Lois Robertson, Jane Stevens, Beverly Sease, Kay Cat tanach, Katherine Metz, Nancy Stevenson, Linda Norris, Christ ene Behanke, Susan Davis, Sue Wheeler, Judy Rieby and Shar on Edwards. Ada r el Social Club Plans Picnic Saturday Adarel Social club has plan ned, a covered dish picnic"for Sat urday, August 9, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pease, 130 Ver- nada place. Committee for the evening is composed of Mrs. Michael Beck, Mrs. Milton Winn and Mrs. Pease. Those attending are asked to take their own table service. This will be the regular Au gust meeting of the club, with husbands and escorts of mem bers invitefl to attend. All mem bers of Adarel chapter, Order of Eastern Star, are also invited to attend.. Cards and square dancing will follow the picnic. Away Mrs. E. V. Kellogg and grand daughter, Sharon Shirar, Route 3, are visiting relatives in the northern part of the state. Tomjack, Agent 212 North Barrleii Phone 2-2202 Fifth Annual Show Of -"Bennett Pupils Set for Wednesday The fifth annual art exhibit of pupils of Eugene Bennett, Med ford artist, will be held Wednes day, August 6. on the lawn of his studio, 333 South Grape street. Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and anyone inter ested is invited to attend. Work of both adults and young people will be shown. The students have been painting for the past six weeks and will show water-colors, drawings, pen and ink sketches, tempera paintings and pastels. The classes made field trips to spots of artistic in terest in the valley during the summer course. In addition to the children s art classes, "adults, were enrolled in basic and advanced landscape work and the artist also taught an art appreciation course.
