XL. . . i3 Med ford Yards Popular Nozv By SUE LICHTY Many Medford families are finding relief from the heat of the summer days in their own yards. Now, ins August begins and September draws near, they are beginning to realize that much of the warm wea ther is past, and are spending their time out of doors. Some even eat most of their meals outside, and hava built barbecues, shelves, and set up tables to save the servers many trips to the kitchen. A few families have swimming pools in their yards, and invite friends and neighbors to come and.. Join them in a dip. Lawn furniture, adding to the comfort of out of doors living, has been set up allow ing for relaxation during the weather which often saps one's energy. Dr. and Mrs. Edwin R. Durno and daughter, Kaye, are shown (left) at their home, 222 Valley View drive, where they have a large yard and swimming pool. Their glass-walled house makes it possible for them to enjoy the beauty of the landscape around them.. The lounge chair, which is in the yard, is usually occupied as they and their friends sunbathe after a swim. This seems to be an ideal place for Billy, the parrot sitting on Kaye's shoulder, for here he may be close to the out of doors. At the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rucker, 25 Quince street, guests are often treated to a dinner on the patio. Shown center (left to right) are Miss Kathryn Rucker and her father, Bob Rucker, Owen Walker and Mrs. Walker, and Mrs. Rucker. They have added the touch of a tablecloth and chinaware to the picnic supper. (All pictures by Brainerd.) Outdoor Supper When the Adolph Stertons, 59 Sum mit avenue, entertain with a barbecue dinner, the men do the cooking. This is one time when men don't seem to mind taking over as cooks. Barker Pool Perhaps children have the most fun In the swimming pools during the sum mer days. Mr. and Mrs. William H. Bark er, are shown (below right) . watching their children, (left to right) Jane, Tom, Ann, and Molly, splashing in the cool water.
