Jones, Klamath Falls, and their son Wilbur Jr., Pittsburg, Cal., were visitors at the Jacksonville museum yester day. Hughes, aviation electronics technician second class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh E. Hughes, Route 2, Medford, re turned to the United States re cently aboard the escort aircraft carrier USS Bairoko, a Navy press release reported. He is now stationed at Long Beach, Calif. Before entering the ser vice five years ago, Hughes at tended Medford high school. In Hawaii Two Medford men recently arrived in Hawaii for duty with Navy Air Trans port Squadron Eight. They are Richard E. Hanson, airman ap prentice, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Hanson, 705 Palm street; and Amor R. Aurdal, air man apprentice, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Aurdal, Route -2, Medford. Dunstan, Jackson ville, Ore., is serving aboard the destroyer USS Melvin in the Mediterranean, a Navy press re lease stated. Barker, electrician's mate third class, USN, Trail, Ore., is returning to the United States after spending about eight months in the Korean combat area, a Navy press release stat ed. He has been on duty aboard the USS Saint Paul which gave direct gunfire support to United Nations front line troops, de stroyed, railway targets, end bombarded North Korean head quarters. Woman Collapses Mrs. Lu cas Bernard, 22, visiting in Med ford from Amarillo, Texas, was taken to Sacred Heart hospital by Perl ambulance Saturday af ternoon and treated for heat ex haustion, according to hospital attendants. They added that she had apparently drunk too much ice tea before exposure to the sun. She collapsed at the corner of Fourth and Oakdale avenues. Anderson, who entered the Safeway organization as a food clerk in the Medford store in 1927, has been announced as the new Medford district manag er for Safeway. In this position he is in charge of the stores in Lakeview, Klamath Falls, Grants Pass, Roseburg, , Co quille, Myrtle Point, Coos Bay, North Bend and Medford. Anderson has been in Port land as a supervisor for Safe way since 1936. He became a district manager there in 1941. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson will live at the Plaza apartment, 235 South Oakdale avenue, . but he expects to be traveling much of the time. Mrs. Anderson is "the former Adelaide Turnquist, a Medford girl. Anderson became district manager here July 1, replacing Harold Johnson, who was trans ferred to Salem. This is his sec ond local managership; in 1929 he was named manager of the Medford Westside store. He said he was glad . to be back in Medford, his "home town." Anderson is a .member of the Elks and Masons in Port land and hopes to have his mem berships transferred here. There are open ings for the fourth, fifth -and sixth weeks (July 20 through August 10) at Camp McLoughlin, it was reported. ' Each Sunday a new group of boys goes to the camp and most of those there the week before return. Today, 123 boys are i scheduled to leave for the camp. The number now at the camp is still not definitely known at Scout headquarters, but camp directors say there are more there now than there ever have been at one time before. There are at least 22 staff members there during each of the six weeks the camp is open. Obituary BERT MOORE Bert O. Moore, 68, who was known as "Buck" and who re sided at 3397 Delta Waters road, died at home Friday. He had been a resident of Medford for the past 25 years. He owned and operated the Highway bar ber shop at 10 North Riverside until his retirement two years ago. . Mr. Moore was born in Ponca City, Okla., on Dec. 22, 1883, and was a veteran of World War I. He was married in Med ford on Aug. 29, 1945, to Eliza beth Donnelly, who survives. Other survivors are one son, one daughter, and three sisters, all residing in the middle west. Funeral services will be con ducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Chapel Mortuary, with the Very Rev. John M. Berger of the Sa cred Heart Catholic church offi ciating. Pallbearers will be Adolph Pech, Pres Phipps, Guy Stearns, Cecil Barker, Frank Birch and John Dunlap. Inter ment will be in Siskiyou Me morial park. Those wishing to do so may call at the mortuary, where the body will lie in state through Tuesday evenmg. WILLIAM EDINGTON William W. Edington, 94, J a former resident of Sams Valley, where he farmed for many years died at Sonora, Calif., on July 9. Mr. Edington was, born near Marshfield, Webster County, Missouri on Feb. 13, 1858. He was married April 13, 1879 in "Missouri to Frances Newton, who preceded him in death in 1928.. They came west from Mis souri to Napa, Calif., in 1883j later moving to Dayton,- Wash., and to southern Oregon in 1892 For the past seven years he has made his home with his daugh ter, Mrs. A. B. Collett, in Grants Pass. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Edington, includ ing three sons, James A., Thom as B. and John N., all of .whom preceded him in death. Surviv ing him are two daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Collett, Grants Pass, and Mrs. Retta Newton, Oak land, Calif; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. D. W. McCor- ns, Garden Grove, Calif. Funeral services will be held at the Perl funeral home on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Minister M. E. Tisdel, of the Church of Christ, officiating. assisted by. Minister James Mc- Fie of Grants Pass. Interment will take place in Central Point cemetery. .' - In Hospital Mrs. John W, Casad of Toketee Falls under went surgery in St. Vincent's hospital, Thursday, the family reported Friday. After her re lease from the hospital, Mrs. Casad will be with a sister, Mrs. Electa Fisher, Portland. Has Surgery Mrs. John Casad, Toketee Falls, underwent surgery Thursday at St. Vincent's hospital, Portland, and is recov ering satisfactorily, - relatives here reported. She will be con fined to the hospital 10 days and would like to hear from friends in this community, it was said. At. Summer Camp. Robert A. Gray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rich ard W. Gray, 18 Modoc avenue, is training at the Air Force Re serve . Officer Training corps summer encampment at Mather Air Force base, Sacramento, Calif. The 28-day encampment, which ends July 19, is being held to acquaint future officers with all phases of the operation of an Air' Force base. Cox John B. Cox, 74, who died Thursday from a heart ailment, was a Medford resident and an employee of Timber Products company for 32 years. . Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart church at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Perl funeral home. Mr. Cox was born at Toledo, Ohio, in 1877. He was married to the former Phoebe Day, who died in 1911, and to the former Mabel Flury Kirby, who sur vives him. He moved to Med ford in 1919 and began work as a timber cruiser for Timber Products. He was a member of the Sa cred Heart church, the Medford Eagles lodge and the Knights of Columbus. Other survivors include a son, Lome, Portland; four daughters, Mrs. Dennison Wright, Kenne wick, Wash., Mrs. Chester Flury, Eagle Point, Mrs. Milton White, Willamette, and Mrs. Dean Pru ett, Medford; a step-daughter. Mrs. John Murphy, Medford; two sister, Mrs. Blanche Rice, Seat tle, and Mrs. Nellie White, Os wego; two brothers, Joseph, Eu gene, and Arthur, White Salmon, Wash.; .14 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be William, Donald and Dick Flury and Marshall Aust, all grandchil dren, and Arthur Dobyns and Eddie Davis. Two other grand sons, Buddy and Alson Geren, will be altar boys. The other altar boys will be Laval Mue nier and Paul Newcomb. The family has requested that friends make a donation to the Heart fund, rather than to buy flowers. Bray, 317 lLozier lane, died in a local hos- jpital Friday evening. She had been failing in health since last April. Funeral arrangements are in care of Conger-Morris Funeral home. She was born in Pulaski, Tenn., Jan. 15, 1894. While at tending Martin college, there she was united in marriage to Dr. Bray on November 25, 1909. Mrs. Bray had been a resident of the valley for over 32 years. During her years as a minister's wife here in Oregon she was very active in church work, be ing affiliated with many of the woman's groups in Southern Methodist church. She was a past member of the Eastern Star, the Dixie club, Phoenix Grange and the Kiwanian Dames. Surviving besides her husband are 10 children: .J. Philip Jr., Dr. Paul D., Mrs. Peggy Dixon, Sea man Charles E., Nancy and Rob ert, all of Medford; Max R., Los Angeles, Calif., William D., Ber keley, - Calif., Mrs. Kathleen Lundy, Martinez, Calif., and H.
