TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) Prospect To Hold Hillbilly Jamboree; Queen to be Chosen Prospect Final plans for the annual Prospect Hillbilly Jam boree, set for July 19 and 20, were made at the July 8 meet ing of Prospect Community club. The queen of the jamboree will be crowned at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 19. Candidates for queen are Miss Julia Pingle. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Pingle, Mil-Mar Ranch, who is sponsored by the Prospect Parent-Teacher association; Miss Jo Anne Hollenbeak, Prospect, sponsored by Prospect Lions club; Miss Bonnie Gay Holmes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art Holmes, sponsored by the Pros pect Teen-age club; Miss Juanita Chandler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Chandler, Trail,' spon sored by the Prospect Union lo cal 6-122; and Miss Donna Har mon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Harmon, Shady Cove, spon sored by the Shady Cove Lions. Square dancing, prizes for the best dressed hillbilly, a ball game, and music by the Eve Prentice Accordion band will be included in the festivities starting at noon both days. Booths will be in charge of Tal ent and Shady Cove Lions, and food will be provided. Miss Sonna Staggs Becomes Bride of . John W. Freeland The wedding of Miss Sonna Beatrice Staggs, daughter of Mrs. J. A.. Josephson, Prospect, anH John Staggs, Sacramento, Calif., to John Wallace Freeland cnn nf Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Free land, Central Point, was an event of June 28. " The Rev. Perry M. Johnson read the morning ceremony at Temple Baptist church. Church decorations, arranged by the bridegroom's mother, were of white lilies, blue canterbury bells and ferns. The bride wore a white metal lic and silk ballerina length gown, and her flowers were all white with an orchid center. Miss Monte Middlebusher, brides maid, chose a white street length dress and sweet peas were her flowers. The bride's father gave her in marriage and Norton Tracy acted as best man. Ushers were Kenneth Fritzsimmons and Sam Moorehouse, and candlelighters were Miss Carolyn Duff and Miss Barbara Stickney. Furnish ing music for the ceremony was Miss Frances Kimmons. . .. About 40 guests were present at the reception following the ceremony at the Freeland home. Cake and punch were served. After a wedding trip to Ore gon Caves, the couple returned to make their home at Wild wood, Ore. . Visitors From East Guests of Werners Among the visitors now in the valley are Charles Werner, his daughter, Mrs. John Staehle and granddaughter, Miss Ruth Staehle, all of Maplewood, N. J. They are guests in Medford of Mr. Kerner's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rich ard D. Werner and son, Rickie. This is the first trip west for the visitors and they are being taken on trips to scenic points. They have already visited Crater lake, ancLwere takenn a trip to Crescent City by Mrs. Ralph Matlack. The visitors and the Wer ners were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Pellegrini Fri day evening. Plan Dinner Past Chief's club of Pythian Sisters will meet Wednesday, July 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fichtner, 613 So. Holly street. July 13, 19S2 Cushman-Cooper Rites Held In Church at Trail Trail One of summer's largest weddings for this area was that of Miss Shirley Cooper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Cooper, Trail, to William L. Cushman of Del Paso Heights, Calif. The rites took place June 25 at eight o'clock in the evening at the Assembly of God church in Trail. The Rev. Ronald Curren officiated, and 200 guests, attended. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Cushman, Trail. s. Carl Scott of Trail sang, and Mrs. -Curren played the wedding marches. The bride's dress was of white satin and lace, ballerina length with scalloped lace yoke and collar. Her finger-tip length veil was held by a headdress which had first been worn by the bridegroom's mother at her wedding. She carried pink sweet heart roses. Miss Myran Scott was maid-of-honor. Her dress of pink taffeta and net, ballerina style, was worn with net gloves and a. crocheted hat. Both carried ester reed daisies. Misses Claudia Ash and Alice Wilson liehted the candles. They wore pink and blue dotted swiss ballerina dresses. Four-year-old Vickie Cushman, Medford, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. She wore a yellow organdy frock and carried a basket of petals. Gene Plankenhorn, Ash land, five-year-old cousin of the bridegroom, carried the ring. Mr. Cushman gave his daugh ter in marriage and Arleigh An derson was best man for the bridegroom. Dale Goodman was groomsman and ushers were Ron Curren and Jack Carlton. Sixty guests attended the re- ception which followed the cere mony. The room was decorated in pink and blue with a white wedding bell suspended over,the refreshment table. The table was decorated with wedding party figurines made by Mrs. C. W Cushman. Mrs. Raymond Anderson, sis ter of the bride, cut the wedding cake and pouring were Misses Claudia Ash and Alice Wilson. Mrs. Bert Ragsdale, sister of the bride, took charge of the bride's book. Mr. Cushman and his bride will live in Del Paso Heights, Calif . . The bridegroom is em ployed at McClellan air base as a radar technician. The bride is a graduate of Eagle Point High school, -and the bridegroom of Prospect High schoof. (Brainerd photo) Home Rites Wed Carol Hedges to Marvin, Graham Miss Carole Jeanne Hedges became the bride of Marvin Lee Graham, June 2 in an evening ceremony read by the Rev. Clynton Crisman of Friend's church at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Hart, 3405 Lone Pine road The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Hedges, 1980 Table Rock road, and the bride groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs C. R. Graham, live in Oklahoma Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a ballerina length gown of green and white nylon. She carried a white Bible with a cascade bouquet of stephanotis centered with gar denias. The bride's sister, Mrs. Hazel Gardner, was maid of honor, and her gown was of rose organdy. Best man for the wedding was William Graham, brother of the bridegroom, Stockton, Calif. Mrs. Hedges chose a green flowered summer dress with black accessories and her flowers were pink carnations. Out of town guests attending the ceremony included Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Calstadt, brother and sister-in-law of the bride from El Monte, Calif., the bride's brother, Donajd . Hedges, El Monte; a sister of the bride, Mrs. Hiram Ward and 'daughter, and Mrs. Clifford Murphy and daughter, all of Battle Ground, Wash.; and William ' Graham, brother of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Graham, Stockton, Calif. j The couple are at home at 335 South Ivy street, after returning from a wedding trip to the coast. Smiths Arrive Here From San Francisco; Many Parties Planned Mr. and MrS. c. Glenn Smith, San Francisco, arrived in town Saturday and are guests''of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Norris, 1900 Hillcrest road. The Smiths form erly lived in Medford. Mr. Smith will return home Sunday, but Mrs. Smith will re main for a" week to visit friends. Several parties are planned for her. Mrs. George Roberts and Mrs. Glenn Jackson will be hostesses at a luncheon honoring Mrs. Smith at Rogue Valley country club on TuesdayAnother lunch eon is set for Wednesday at the home of Mrs. N. B. Couple Married In Recent Rites At Ashland Home Ashland The marriage of Mrs. Margarete Page, Ashland, to Norman Ballard, Empire, Ore., took place July 1 at the home of Mr. and- Mrs. Merle Taylor, Ashland. The double ring evening ceremony was per formed by the Rev. Earl Down ing of First Christian church, Ashland, in a setting of yellow and white flowers arranged with candles. The bride, given in marriage by her son, Airman Frank Page, wore a beige traveling suit with white accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Campbell attended the couple. Miss Mary Page, daugh ter of the bride, was candle lighter. Arnold Wilkinson sang, ac companied by Mrs. M. P. O'Harra. Mrs. Merle Taylor cut the cake at the reception which followed the ceremony and Mrs. David Faler served the punch. Miss Page was in charge of the guest book. Out of town guests at the wedding were Mrs. Margaret Tennell, mother of the bride groom from Empire, and Sam Rector and Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Rector nd son, Michael, Tacoma, Wash. The couple will be at home in Empire after they return from a wedding trip to Tacoma. Student Attends Meeting in Ohio Raoul Maddox, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Maddox, Lone Pine road, is a delegate to the na tional convention of Phi Mu Ep silon (Sinfonia), music honorary fraternity, being held in Cincin nati, O., this week. He is representing the Univer sity of Oregon chapter at Eu gene, and will be president of that chapter next year.
