" Hours Changed - Selective Service board No. 17 for Med ford announced yesterday that for the month of July office hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Fri day. During the month the board will also meet Tuesdays instead of Monday. Building Permits A. A. Birch, 321 Mary street, has ap plied for a building permit of $5,000 to erect a residence and Sacred Heart church has ap plied for a $4,000 permit to de molish a school building at 11th and Holly streets, according to city records. . She will return next week-end. . Return From Tacoma After a trip to Tacoma, Washington to pick up their daughter, Peg gy, Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Fisch, 614 South Holly, returned home Monday. Armed Posse Seeks Illinois Murderer Pontiac, 111. (U.R) A posse Tuesday blockaded highway in tersections and searched back roads in a search for a jealous gunman who killed two men, ab ducted his ex - wife and then pleaded for her love during a wild auto ride; At Joliet, 111., police said they believed the fugitive, Richard Cox, 27, may have returned to that city in a borrowed automo bile. , Car Owner in Custody Officers said they believed the killer might keep a . date to re turn the car to the friend who loaned it to him. They said a squad of officers had the car's owner in custody and were ly ing in wait for Cox. Cox drove the borrowed car to Pontiac Monday, stalked into a cafe and shot two men. He abducted his recently di vorced wife, Betty, and : sped northward along country roads. A 50 - man posse, with shoot-to-kill if necessary orders, spread out over the countryside. 19-Year-Old Sentenced For Tavern Robbery Salem (U.R) Raymond Joe Knight, 19, of West Stayton, Ore., was sentenced to' 10 years in the state penitentiary Monday for his part in the hold-up of Chuck s Tavern near Gates June 26. Albert-William Karnes of As toria, charged with first degree murder in the axe slaying of 81-year-old Mrs. Susan Litchfield here June 7, appeared in court briefly but was continued to July 14 for entry of plea. RICHARD CHAPPEL Services for Richard C. Chap pel, 69, who died last Wednes day, will be held in Conger Morris chapel Friday at-10 a.m., with the Rev. D. E. Millard of ficiating. Committal will be in Jacksonville cemetery. Mr. Chappel was born May 9, 1883, in Jacksonville, and had lived in this vicinity most of his life. He taught school in the rural districts in the valley for several years, and had also worked in San Francisco and in Canada. Nicholson, 73, of 821 North Cen tral avenue, who died Sunday, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m., in Conger-Morris chapel, with the Rev. Hardwick W. Har sham, of the First Methodist church, officiating. Committal will be in Siskiyou Memorial park. Mr. Nicholson was born July 17, 1878, in Esberg, Denmark, and came to this country in 1890. On July 2, 1907, in Nucla, Colo., he was married to Mable Sly, who survives. He had lived in southern Oregon the past eight years, coming from Idaho. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias. Other survivors include four daughters, Dorothy, at home; Mrs. Thora Johnson, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Clintina Sherman, Coeur d'Alene, Ida., and Mrs. Bonnie McAllister, Portland; two brothers, Charles, Centralia, Wash.; and George, Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Harriett Olson and Mrs. Dagny Aspelin, Dwight, Kans.; also five grandchildren.
