FOUR MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUMS Monday, July 7, ItSJ Society and Clubs Women's Golf Association Holds Old-Fashioned Picnic Women's Golf association of Rogue Valley Golf and Country club held an "old-fashioned picnic at Mayor Flynn's Farm" last Thursday, and the event turned out to be one of the most unusual and successful ever i held by the organization. Sixty women attended. The committee had let it be known that the prices and en tertainment would be both "old fashioned" and the members . who attended found that they could buy a substantial dutch lunch for about 30 cents, with Pen-ink Drawing Is Month's Picture The picture of the month of the Southern Oregon society of Artists, now on display in Bar ker's window, was done by Mrs. Arlene J. Fitzgerald, Ashland, a member of the society. In addition to this pen and ink drawing, Mrs. Fitzgerald has done paintings of people, flow ers and animals. The picture of the month is of horses heads, and her lines are bold and clear cut, giving her work dynamic style. Mrs. Fitzgerald is an a'ctive member of Southern Oregon So ciety of Artists, serving as sec retary for the organization. She is married and the mother of two daughters and a son. Al Williams, club professional and his assistant, Ed Oldfield, were special guests and a gift was presented to the latter in appreciation of his work with the girls' golfing program which the women's association has been promoting. Mrs. R. B. Hemple was chair man of the committee which planned the picnic, and assist ing her were Mesdames Nathan Shores, Richard Finch, Alton Hart, Richard Smith, W. J. Scheffel, Norman Dorries, F. R. Faulkner and Del Berg. Mrs. William Thorndike de signed and made club posters which advertised the event. Mrs William J. Miller, president, con ducted a brief business meet ing. Next meeting of the execu tive board of the organization will be held at the home of Mrs. James Snider, Wednesday, July 9, at 12 noon. Mrs. Snider lives at 28 North K.eene Way drive. Former Missionary To Speak in Phoenix; Ladies Aid To Meet Phoenix The public is in vited to attend a talk and show ing of slides by the Rev. David P. Martin, former missionary to Japan and the Philippine Islands, at the Presbyterian church at 8 o'clock, Wednesday, July 9. The Rev. Martin is known by many residents, having lived in Phoenix when he was a boy. His wife, Mrs. Martin, will be with him at the church. The Ladies' Aid society of Presbyterian church will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 9. Officers state important business is on the agenda. Mrs. Bea son is Mr. Pruitt's niece and Mrs. Williams is his sister. Leaves Mrs. Tom Dwyer Sr., 913 Winchester street, left Sunday for Los Angeles by United Air Lines. She will visit there for about two weeks. To Meet Mistletoe club will meet Wednesday, July 9, at 1 p.m. in Girls Community club. Dessert will be served. Mrs. Tom Mee is luncheon chairman. Eagle Point Church Announces Program Eagle Point A musical pro gram will be presented at Eagle Point Community church at 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, by six students from Bob Jones Uni versity, Greenville, S. C. This brass ensemble group is made up of students from five states. They are touring the western section of the United States, playing and presenting a brief gospel message. The members of this ensemble are some of the Bob Jones uni versity students who have been featured in radio programs, Christian film productions, and recordings of sacred and classi cal works released under the title, "Unusual Records." 'Recently Lana order a vest made out of white ermine, the furrier says. "Looks like the days of wonderful clothes in fur are coming back."
