When you told your husband you would give him another chance, are you sure It was not because-you loved him, rather than that you were sorry for him? Regardless of your reason, a promise Is a promise and vou must keep it. HavillK given your husband this pre mise, you were wrong to go out with another man. Sure ly he knew that you were plan ning to take your husband back. It was, therefore, wrong of him to ask you to marry him. And, for this wrong, he is the one who should be hurt. OREGON W 26209. LINIC RACKET it a latter-day "clinic" and get away without paying many times as much as an honest doctor would charge. An honest doctor, if you won der what I mean, is one who practices under his own name. Today as in the past the prac tice of medicine is a personal ser vice. You may bet your sweet life that you'll pay an exorbitant price for it from the moment the doctor begins to deputize part ners, colleagues, assistants, tech nicians, nurses, stenographers and other clerks to take care of you. But then, you Yankee Wise acres like to be humbugged, don't you? The American Medical Aasso ciation has sponsored and en couraged the "clinic'' racket for many years. At one time the or ganization went overboard in the effort to make the racket "ethi cal." dropped the street ad dress of some doctors in the Di rectory and gave instead a phony one such as "The Sque dunk Clinic," but this practice ceased after a newspaper quack sarcasticated about it. Many readers ask me to rec ommend a hospital or a clinic where they can get this or that treatment at a reasonable price. As already intimated, I know of no such place. Oddly enough these people who scorn to deal with the "doctors around rjere" complain most bitterly about the high cost of medical care. They should complain to the Ameri can Medical Association which by' fostering specialism and the "clinic" racket, is largely to blame for the commercialization of American medicine.
