TuMdiy, Jun 10, 1952 ... : i wm. anoM Whi It ill ml nil "Igcn" t "DA- IT DOESN'T MEAN A THING 1 Above are citizens of Czechoslovakia, Poland, Russia, Hun gary and Rumania engaged in voting. All vote "Yes.". That's the only way they can vote. Actually, they have no vote. They lost it to a dictatorship. It's different in Australia, Belgium, Holland, Norway, Swit zerland and New Zealand. There the franchise is so important that citizens are fined if they don't vote. There is still another way the American way. Your vote is yours to use freely, as you see fit now. But if you don't use your vote, you may lose the very right to vote. Failure to exercise your citizenship on election day leaves the door open to dictatorship at home or conquest from abroad. Then you, like the people above, will lose your vote. That right to vote is one of your most precious possessions. Protect it! Be sure to register. Then be sure to vote. Remind your fam ily, friends and fellow workers how important it is for them to do the same. Every good American should participate in politics. Some people don't like the word politics because they think it means being partisan urging support for or party. particular candidate But when you register and vote, study issues and candidates, . and remind your friends to do the same, you participate in poli tics in its highest form. In this sense, politics is the freedom given us by our Constitution for selecting the men and women who will run our government. Your continued freedom lies in your ballot box. Once lost, it is gone forever. Don't lose it! Keep it. WHAT CAN YOU DO? Be sure to register now Be sure to vote November 4 Be sure to urge your friends to register and vote.
