Other classes meeting at the same time were of 1902 with 13 of the original 33 present; and 1912 with 40 attending. The three groups held a joint ban quet Saturday evening at the campus. Dr. A. L. Strand, presi dent of the college, was princi pal speaker. a Convalescent Frederick: W, Hancock, an Airman third class in the Air Force, now is con valescing at Lowry Air Force base, Denver, Colo., at the Fitz Simons Army hospital, accord ing to an Air Force release. He was injured in an automobile accident more than a year ago in Portland. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvln C. Han cock, Gold Hill, and husband of the iormer Miss Alta Melton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Melton, Castle Bock, Wash. The couple has, three sons. Airman Hancock is a Navy veteran of World War II in which he saw action in the Pacific throughout the conflict. He has been in the Air Force 18 months. A cast has been placed on the knee. m m m On Islands Robert 'J. Doran a Navy aerographer's mate third class, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Miles F. Doran, Route 1, is serv ing at the Navy station at Kwa- jalein in the Marshall islands where planes are refueled en route across the Pacific, accord ing to a news center release. The station Is midway between Honolulu and Tokyo, and Kwa jalein was a well-known step ping stone In the Pacific battle with the Japanese homeland during World War II. ... Graduated Arlis Daugherty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Daugherty, 738 Ross lane, was graduated from Los Angeles pa cific Academy June 8. He was a member of the Del Norte club. Associated Christian students Preachers' and Teachers' Kids club, Boy's Letter club, and Spartans. Daugherty also was active in sports and received let ters for football, basketball and baseball and participated in track. Winner of the Boys' Sportsmanship award, he was se lected for an ail-star basketball team among four other colleges. On Leaye Horace T. Furnas Jr., an Army corporal, arrived last week to visit here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Fur nas, S02 Mae street. He was in ducted Into the Army March 28 1951 and received basic training at, Camp Roberts, Calif. He then was assigned Aug. 29, 1951, to the 175th signal service company at Ft. Richardson, near Anchor age, Alaska, where he has since served. He is on a 24-day leave. Funpral services for Mrs. Grace Kathan, 86, will be held in the Hull and Hull cnapel m Grants Pass on Tuesday, June 10. at 2 n.m.. with the Kev. u. t. Barnett officiating. , Mrs. Kathan. who died June in Rogue River, was born Sep tember 28, 1885 in Nebraska and came to Orefion with her family 46 years ago. She operated the telephone exchange in Kogue River some years ago and later mnved tn a ranch on- -Evans creek. Later she taught school near Wimer. In recent years she had resided at the family home on Oak street in Rogue River.. Survivors include a son, Jam es T. Bush, in the navy, and three daughters, Mrs. K. A. men man, Yreka, Calif., Mrs. John R. Smith, Hilt, Calif., and Mrs. Charles J. Verzan, Tacoma, Wash. Mrs. Kathan'e husband passed away some years ago. Interment will be in tne i. u. O. F. cemetery at Grants Pass. RHODA WOOLDRIDGE . Mrs. Rhoda Ann Wooldridge died at the family' residence, 1013 W. 9th street Sunday. She was 85 years of age. ANNA PERDUE Anna Melinda Perdue. 81. a resident of Medford for the past 32 years, died at the family resi dence. 207 E. McAndrews road, Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Perdue was born in Wisconsin on March 14. 1H71 She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Med ford Easles lodge and the Town send club of Medford. She is survived bv her hus band. John G. PIETRO GIANNELLI Services for Pietro Giannelli, 65, who Hied June 3 at Camp White, will -be held Tuesday at 1 p. m. in the chapel at Camp White with Father John Cum- misky officiating. Mr. Giannelli was born in Italy and served in World War I in the United States Army, as a Private in Company I, 362nd Inf. Wall Street New York (U.R) Stocks advanced for the fourth consecu tive session Monday on reduced volume. The reduction in trad ing reflected caution following three sharp gains that carried the rails to a new high lor more than 21 years and the industrials to a new top since last March 31. Industrials were strong Mon day and the rails registered a small net gain. Oil shares were prominent on the upturn. Their gains ranged to S points in such a high-priced issue as Superior Oil of Califor nia. Dow Jones closing stock aver ages: 30 industrials 269.19 up 1.12; 20 railroads 100.66 up 0.30; 15 utilities 50.09 off 0.03, and 65 stocks 104.64 up 0.30.
