TWO MEDFOHD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Tuetday, June 3, 1952 Society and Clubs Roundup Ceremony Held Saturday Night At Posse Grounds About 250 persons Saturday evening attended ceremoniei at the Jackson County Mounted Sheriff's posse grounds when Sheriff Howard Gault declared Miss Judy Briggs, queen, and Misses Mary Lou Larson and Shirley Nelson, princesses for the 10th annual Rogue River roundup. The roundup Is set for June 14 and 15. Mr. Gault presented each girl a white western riding hat, gifts from the posse. Mrs. Guy Hughes, captain of the Ladies Mounted troop, gave Miss Briggs an embroidered western shirt, a gift from the troop. Members of the Junior posse participated in the ceremonies and rode In a group with posse and troop members who escorted the queen and princesses to the arena. Earlier about 150 persons met at the posse club house for a "buckaroo" supper served by the troop and following the ceremon ies those who attended joined in dancing at the club house. Those granted American Con tract Bridge league points for top scores for May were Mrs Paul A. Hatton, 40 rating points; Valentine Flohs, 36 points; Mrs. Josephine Clark, 35 rating points; Edward Mathls, 32 and Barton Sims, 30. Three domiciliary members received American Legion auxil iary awards for top scores for May, It was announced. They were Mr. Flohs, 36 rating points; Edward Mathis, 32, and John Solheim, 31 points. Winners were also announced for last Thursday nights regu lar weekly session. North-south winners were Mrs. Paul A. Hat ton and Mike Dillon, llu'a, first; Mr. Hatton and Mrs. Helen Con- roy, 100 points, second; Mrs Maude Codding and Mrs. W. W. Stevenson, 96 Vi points; Mrs. Frank Baker and Virgil Temple tied with B. L, Sanderson and Edgar Stevens for fourth and fifth, both scoring 9214; Mrs Sanderson and Jack Barr, 89 ',5 pointi. East-west winners were Bur ton Sims and John Solheim, 112V4, first: Roscoe Morton and Orville Cottier, 101 V4, second; John Levlne and John Foley, 94, third; Oda Thomason and Ed ward Mathis, 91 Vt, fourth; Mrs, Josephine Clark and John Sharp. 89, fifth; Marvin R. Kahn and Nick Llthiadotls, 87 'i, sixth place. Niece Here Miss Ethel 'Wooddall, who taught school the past year at Wccoma Beach, on the Oregon coast, spent the week-end as a guest of her aunt, Mrs. F. W. Clogston, 1840 Stage Road South. Miss Wooddall was en route to her home In Fall River, Kan., for the summer. Later she will attend a meet ing In Washington, D.C., and will visit eastern cities before re turning to Oregon for the winter. She will teach the coming year at Newport. Department Head VFW Auxiliary Visitor in City Mrs. Ora Windus, Portland. department radio chairman for Veterans of Foreign War!' aux iliary, arrived in Medford last night. Today Mrs. Windus was to visit the veterans' domiciliary at Camp White, and this evening will attend a meeting of the Medford auxiliary at VFW hall. Mri. Windui war accompan ied on her tour of the camp by Mrs. Amy Randle, Medford, de partment hospital chairman, and Mrs. Nora Walters, president of the local VFW auxiliary. Group To Spend Weekend at Ranch Miss Jeannie Ragsdale, with her mother, Mrs. Jesse Rags- dale, 513 Palm street, and the Misses Delores and Eloise Clark, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. John Stelle, 612 Victory street, will leave Friday morning for the Bar M Dude ranch at Gibbon, Ore., near Pendleton. Miss Rags dale won a week-end trip to the ranch with all expenses paid, for herself and three compan ions. She received this as a prize for winning a limerick contest sponsored earlier in the year by a Portland department store. While at the ranch the young women will participate in a num ber of outdoor sports, including riding, swimming and hiking. The group will return here Tues day. Miss Ragsdale and Miss De lores Clark are completing their junior year at the Medford Sen ior high school. Miss Eloise Clark was graduated from the same school last year. i Arrive Mrs. John Ousterhout and daughter, Gretchen, have arrived in Medford from Woodburn, Ore., ' where Mr. Ousterhout taught in the Woodburn High school last term. Mr. Ousterhout is to arrive soon and the family will spend the summer with rela tives in Medford and Eagle rami ana will move to a new home near Eagle Point In the fall. Auxiliary Announces Year's Last Meeting Crater Lions' auxiliary will hold the last meeting of the club year Wednesday, June 4, at 7 p.m. in the home -of Mrs. Jack Ingram, 714 Queen Anne avenue. The meeting will be preceded by a potluck dinner, and all wives of Lions' club members are1 invited to attend. After installation ceremonies, to be held in June, the auxiliary will hold no business meetings during the summer months. First meeting of the new year will be September 3.
