United Preit Full Leased Wire Second Section MEDFORD, OREGON, TUESDAY, MAY 20, 1952 Pages 1-6 Only About One-Half Of Jackson County's 1 Voters Cast Ballots !4 Only a little more than half 54.6 per cent of Jackson coun ty's registered party voters went to the polls in the primary elec tion, it was revealed today fol lowing complete tabulation of the vote. Republicans had a much bet ter voting record than did the Democrats, with the GOP per centage 64.7 and the Democrats' only 41.6. Greater interest in the presidential contest, and in con tested nomination elections on the Republican ballot, were credited with the greater GOP 'turnout. Of the 18.174 registered Re publicans. 11.758 voted; of the 13.985 registered Democrats. 5,821 went to the polls. On the Republican side, more voters marked Xs in the district attorney race than they did for president, 11,372 to 11,758. Among the (Democrats, more voted in the election for national committeeman, 5,821, than there were voting for president, 5,3!)4. Those registered with splinter parties or as independents were not eligible to vote in the pri mary election. Following is a listing of com plete but unofficial returns of how Jackson county voted. The Grange Butte Falls H.E.C. of Butte Falls Grange met at the Mill Mar Ranch for a pot-luck dinner on the regular meeting day of the month. Regional Blood Meeling Planned A regional blood program I meeting will be held in Portland this Friday, according to Mrs. Leston Huntley, Jackson county blood donor chairman. The assistant director of the National Blood Donors program, Carl F. Belliston, will be at the meeting, Mrs. Huntley said. The program will cover medical as pects of Civilian Defense, she added, and in the morning there will be a special meeting on the hospital aspects of technical service.
