Around Hollywood Hollywood (U.R) After the shouts and sentiment about Judy Garland's "comeback" vaude ville show died away, it was a sad-faced dog named Red Dust who walked off first with a movie con-! tract. Judy hasn't announced any Dlans vet. ex- Aline Mosby cept that She may star in a movie she'll pro duce independently herself. But Red Dust, who's number three on her five-act variety bill, can hardly get out of his this man is "wrong" or "right" for her. Should Show Interest Persuade your husband to change his tactics and then in vite this young man to your home. Have some friends of the family drop in and later, give a party for the young people your daughter knows. Be very kind, pracious, and interested in him. Urge your husband to do the likewise. This approach to the problem will give your daughter an op portunity to see for herself if the man of her choice really fits into her life pattern or if he is like a fish out of water in the environment she has been used to. If it is the latter, she will either have to readjust her life to fit the pattern'of the man she loves or give him up. Let her make that choice. The pooch will switch from' stage to celluloid in a Paramount musical, "The Stars Are Sing ing," with tunes by Oscar win ners Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. His trainer, Bob Williams, has a Dart in the movie, too. May Do TV Series I'm the comedy lead and Red Dust plays Laurence Melchior's dog," explained Williams, "the dog also may do a TV film ser ies." The Springer spaniel has been a nightclub, vaudeville and thea ter star for nearly two years. His talent is being contrary, so his act is a satire on all trained dog routines. When Williams calls the dog out on the stage at the Garland show, Red Dust trots into the audience instead; -When the master coaxes him to jump on a table, Red Dust just squats plac idly and stares at the laughing fans. Dog Relaxes At Williams' command, the dog relaxes so completely that the trainer can fold him in half. "It was difficult to get him to do the opposite of my com mands," Williams said. "I al most gave up 500 times. How I did it is a trade secret." Williams and his wife, ex-burlesque star Ann Corio, live with Red Dust and two other trained dogs near Malibu beach. Red Dust rides to the Garland show every night in a two-room house built in the back of his master's station wagon. He eats such del icacies as ground beef, eggs, vegetables and cod liver oil. Has Pastime Off stage, the spaniel's pas time is dragging seaweed from the beach and neatly piling It on the porch of his actor neighbor, Conrad Nagel. "He really plays a character on the stage, and when he's not working he acts like an ordin ary dog," Williams said. "So when I took him to see the pro ducer of his Paramount movie, he was doubtful about Red Dust. "But as we were ready to leave, Red Dust walked through a roomful of 18 people, singled out the producer, and put his head in the man's lap. The pro ducer shrugged, 'What else can I do?' and signed him." The Rocky Mountain goat Is found in the Western mountains from Mount Rainier to Alaska. ELECTe Barbara Draper FOR Representative To Congress Koje Incident Again Demonstrates Army's Value on Human Life Washington (U.R) The Unit ed States Army has demonstra ted again that it places first val ue on human life, but unfortu nately the Koje Island incident has given the Communist Peip ing Radio some new ammuni tion. It can, however, have no ef fect on the outcome of the Ko rean truce negotiations. The story of the kidnaping of Brig. Gen. Francis T. Dodd by Communist war prisoners may never be told in its entirety. Hetcua Lack Quettioned For instance, 8th Army Com mander Gen. James A. Van Fleet has wondered publicly why Koje island prison guards did not rush in immediately for some kind of an attempt to rescue Dodd after the prisoners seized him. Newsmen have been allowed to visit Koje, but their move ments have been carefully screened, and both officers and men in charge of guarding the tough, hard-core Communist pris oners of Compound 76 have been Two Car Crashes Reported Tuesday Two automobile accidents on Highway 99 north of Medford yesterday were reported this morning by state police. At any rate, a Communist flag flies over Compound 76, and U.N. guards dare not enter its gates. Brig. Gen. Charles Colson, who negotiated Dodd's release, said: "I do not admit that there have been instances of bloodshed where many prisoners of war have been killed and wounded by U. N. forces." Referred to Riots Presumably, Colson referred to the Koje prisoner riots of February and March in which 1 persons died, including an American soldier. The U.
