Dr. Hut-lock As We Live USE ENERGY TO DECORATE THEN BRING BOY HOME A girl's home is her "setting". It is the background which re flects the kind of family she has , and the kind of u pb ringing she has had to mold her into the person she is today. Girls soon become aware of this. And, when they begin to have dates, they know the boys judge them by their homes and com pare their home with those of the other girls they date. Conse quently, the girl has reason to be concerned if her home setting does not measure up favorably with that of other girls. This problem is reflected in the fol lowing letter from an 18-year-old girl. . (Q) "I'm ashamed of my home. I hav. gone out with many boys but I always meet them outside. Mom. Dad, and I are the only ones at home now and I try to buy things out of my pay to make the house look nice, but it never does. We haven't even a parlor set. I like a boy now and I know he is well-to-do and has a nice home. I would like him to meet by parents as they are won derful people, but I'm ashamed to bring him home. What shall I do?" If you are ashamed of your home, you would be so ill-at-ease if you brought this boy to meet your parents that it would be awkward for all concerned. At the same time, you do not want to continue to meet boys away from your home. It will create an unfavorable and unfair im pression of you and your family. Pitch in as Team It does not take much money to make a home attractive. If you and your family are willing to pitch in and work as a team, with a few dollars and a week or two of hard work, you should be able to transform your home so that even you would not recog nize it. Then, later, as time and money permit, you can fix up the dining room and the bed rooms. Can' Cover Furniture There are planey of attractive papers and paints that can be ap plied by an amateur. No matter how shabby your furniture, it can be covered with bright slip covers to harmonize with the paper. A pattern of some in expensive material, and willing ness to work is all you need to do the job. And, even an amateur can make attractive window draperies. Boys don't notice details. If a room is bright, cheerful, and in good taste, they carry away with them a favorable impression of it. I can assure you that your friend would never notice the quality of the material or of the workmanship if the total effect of the room was good. Radio Model Shown At Prop Nuts Flight Harold Reed, Crescent City, gave a demonstration of his ra- dio-controlled model airplane at a flight contest conducted on the Agate desert Sunday morning by the Prop Nuts, Medford model airplane club. R e e d's remotely - controlled plane created considerable in- wrest among the members of the Medford club, and several of them are planning to con struct similar craft. All the flights were not com pleted during the day, due to winds which came up in the early afternoon.
