Cancel Meeting The advls- ' cry committee to the juvenile court will not meet today as originally scheduled, it was an nounced this morning by Mrs. Victor Birdseye, chairman. Treated Barbara Kilpatrick. 1221 Thomas road, 11-year-old daughter of Mrs. Virginia Kil patrick, was treated and re leased at Sacred Heart hospital about 7:30 p.m. yesterday for a wrist injury, according to at tendants. From India Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Wenzel of Bombay, India, left this morning after visiting since yesterday with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Poutre, 2653 Buckshot road. Tondi, who had been a Jesuit for 16 years, disclosed his con version to Communism in an ar ticle in the pro-Communist news paper U Paese last Friday, for merly was secretary to the head of the institute of superior re ligious culture at the Vatican's Gregorian university. Railroad Officials Summoned for Talks Washington (U.R) Defense Mobilizer John R. Steelman call ed in railroad management offi cials for new talks Monday amid indications that the three-year- old rail dispute may be nearing an end Steelman, who has been con ducting separate talks with rail unions and management since Friday, reported "a little prog ress" toward breaking the long deadlock. He emphasized that "we still have a long way to go." Howeber the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engine men summoned its policy com mittee to a meeting here Tues day to rule on any agreement that might be reached. Two Prisoners Die In Washington Jail Ilwaco, Wash. U.R) Two men died Saturday night in the town jail here. Authorities said they appar ently suffocated from smoke from a fire in the jail bedding of one of the prisoners. The bodies were found at noon yes terday by Deputy Sheriff Jack Nyberg. They were identified as Clyde A. Wood, U. S. air force enlisted man stationed at Naselle, Wash., and Dick Morris of Long Beach, Wash. Wood was arrested at Ocean Park, Wash., Saturday night by a state traffic officer and Morris was arrested by a deputy sheriff at Long Beach. Both were booked on drunkenness charges. D. F. Barnett officiating. Interment will be in Woodville cemetery. Perl funeral home is in charge of funeral arrangements. The deceased was born on Aug. 7, 1878, in Colorado and in 1879 the family came to Draper, Ore., now known as Foots Creek, where he lived until 1929, en gaging in farming and mining. He then moved to Rogue River where he resided until recently when he entered a rest home in Medford, Survivors Include a sister, Mrs. Anna K. Stevens, Jackson ville. FRANCES HOPPE Services for Mrs. Frances Jane Hoppe, 66, who died Saturday at her home, 107 North Peach street, will be held in Conger Morris Chapel Tuesday at 1 p.m Committal will be in IOOF ceme tery. Mrs. Hoppe was born April 9 1886, in Lawrence county, 111! nois, and had lived in Medlord for the past three years. She is survived by a son Frederick W. Johnson, St. Louis, Mo.; and a daughter, Mrs. Eva Alice Fizzuto, E'veka, Calif. EDWARDINe" KNIGHT Services for Mrs. Edwardine Knight, who died Friday, will be held in Conger-Morris Chapel Tuesday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. John Price of Pilgrim Holiness church officiating. Committal will be in Phoenix cemetery. Mrs. Knight was born Nov 19, 1862, in Nykobing, Denmark. She came to this country in 1903, and came to southern Ore' gon from Prosser, Wash., in 1919. She lived in Phoenix where her husband, James A., died in 1928, until 1942, living in Medford since that time. She is survived by a son, Rich ard J., Medford, and three grand children Fire Causes Damage At Ray's Shoe Store Fire originating from an over heated stove did considerable damage to supplies at Ray's Shoe store, 221 West Jackson street today, firemen reported. They said that the proprietor, Ray Prevo, extinguished the blaze but called firemen about 10 a.m. to check on it. Conviction on the charge car ries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and sentencing has been set for Wednesday morn-1 ing. I Williams was accused with Mrs. Bonnie Lee Kuhnhausen, Mllwaukie, Ore., of enticing Tarkia from a tavern and rob bing and beating him. He died Jan. 19 in a Portland hospital.
