Family Month t To Be Observed By Church Here First Christian church has be gun an extensive conservation program. Each Sunday special empha sis will be made concerning the church and spiritual life. The services, of interest to both old and new members, are designed to give insight into the spiritual resources of the Bible and to make application of them to present day living. May will be Family month. Reception of new members will be emphasized throughout the period. A total of 211 persons have joined the church in recent months. Snack Suppers Each Sunday in May the con gregation will have a snack sup per followed by a program for kindergarten through adult groups. There will be a nursery for small children. "World Brotherhood Begins at Home" will be the topic of the services and there will be special speakers at the programs. The schedule is May 4, The Rev. Rocks To Be Shown To Adventist Youth "Rocks of Southern Oregon" will be theme of the Missionary Volunteer society meeting at the Seventh-day Adventlst church at 4 p.m. Saturday. John T. Ross, Minear road, will show various rocks from his large collection on the screen with light projected through thinly sliced specimens. The senior class of Rogue Riv er academy will show a film, "Five Little Peppers at Home," In the gym at 8 p.m. Annetta Wright, president, and Margaret Berry, valedictorian, who have Just relumed from "senior day" at Walla Walla college, have charge of the program. Proceeds will go toward purchaser of the class gift for the school, a fire alarm and drill system. The Medford junior choir will give a program at Grants Pass Missionary Volunteer meeting at 8 p.m. Class Being Conducted At Bible Auditorium A Bible class Is being con ducted In the Bible auditorium Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:20 p.m. covering all the fundamen tal doctrine of the Bible. Preceding his sermon, Evan gelist Harold E. Metcalf, taught the first class, numbering 75, last night. A certificate will be granted to those who complete the course, which is open to everyone. iv LEADS REVIVAL SERVICES The Rev. Ralph M, Starr will be evangelist for revival meetings starting at First Church of God on Sunday, April 27. He will preach at the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service and at 7:30 p.m. each day, except Saturdays, through May 11. Mr. Starr plays the trumpet and sings. He will show pictures of the Orient. He was gradudated from Anderson college, Ander son, Ind. Sunday Service 01 Presbyterians To Be Broadcast Radio station KYJC will broadcast the 11 a.m. service of First Presbyterian church on Sunday. The Rev. D. Kirkland West, pastor will present his second sermon in the series on "Christ Wants Happy Homes. Is Yours One?" His subject will be "Prayer Can Help Make Your Home Happy." Dr. West has stated that the national average of divorce is one in every three marriages but that the average among Chris tians who pray and worship to gether is only one in 80. Sermon at the evening service Sunday will be "How To Keep Unspotted From the World." Dick Bates Leader Leader of senior high West minster fellowship at 8:30 p.m. will be Dick Bates. After the evening church service, the group will have a social hour at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Al James, 1426 Euclid avenue. Junior high Westminster fel lowship will be led by the Faith and Life commission members, LeRoy Welland, Jerry Neil, Duane Sides, Gerry Matternick, Ray Williams and Judy Gilbert. Newspaper Printed By Free Methodists The first issue of an unnamed young people's newspaper was published this week by the Youth fellowship of the Free Methodist church. The editor is Miss Rita Grislls. Her staff included Miss Bever ly Cosier, Bob Hopkins, Jim Hol loway and Jimmy While. Head lines announced a naming con test with prizes for the winner. Next Editor Miss Nancy Branum will be editor of the next issue. The Free Methodist Youth fellowship meets at 8 p.m. Sunday and at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. L. C. Montgomery, Port land, preaching. Mr. Montgomery and his wife are well known in Medford. They lived here a number of years before being called to Portland. Mr. Anglemyer was elected president of the southern Ore gon district of Christian churches at a meeting here on Wednesday. John son, present pastor, was called In September of that year. Dur ing the life of the church, mem bers have been given up for the organization of three new churches. Present resident mem bership exceeds 200. Plans are being made for a program of expansion to begin this summer. The church Is affiliated with the Southern Baptist convention and with the Baptist General Convention of Oregon-Washington. Child Evangelism Spring Rally Set The annual spring rally of the International Child Evangelism fellowship groups here will be held Sunday, April 27, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist church. Interdenominational classes sponsored by the fellowship con ducted in numerous homes throughout the valley. Children from the various Good News Bible clubs will demonstrate songs, stories and scriptures with visual aids. Par- Guest Speakers Slated Sunday By Methodists The Rev. Paul E. Wagner, a superintendent o f Methodist work in India, and The Rev. T. Oppelinger, Switzerland, will be guest speakers Sunday at First Methodist church. Mr. Wagner will speak at 9:45 a.m. to a gathering of Sunday school classes, adult through Junior high, in the church sanc tuary. Mr. Oppelinger will talk at the 11 a.m. service and special music will be provided by the Chancel choir. A district superintendent, first aid man, educator and building advisor, Mr. Wagner heads work of the denomination in Udglr district of Hyderabad state. Gadola directed an innocent verdict for Joseph Soja, accused of paying for a car with a post dated check for $2,550, although he had only $3.50 In the bank. The car was purchased Sept. 21, 1951 and Soja dated his check for the following day.
