fe Christian Church District Conclave Starts Tomorrow District convention of Chris tian churches in southern Ore gon, will be held in Medford First Christian church, Wednes day. The sessions will begin at 2 p.m. The Rev. W. B. Piper, minister of First Christian church in Grants Pass, will pre side. The women's session will be conducted by Mrs. Vern Bailey 'atea secretary. Mrs. Edna L Burke, state secretary, and Mrs W, B. Piper, state service chair ' man, will be guest speakers. The Rev. Earl Downing, min . ister of Ashland First Christian i church, will bring the afternoon address. The Rev. Shelvy H Anglmeyer, minister of Med j ford First church, will also ad . dress the afternoon session on . "Evangelism." Missionary speaker for the afternoon and evening sessions . will be Elmer G. Boyer of Afri- ca. Those attending the dinner at 6 p.m., are asked to bring either salad or dessert. The main course will be prepared and served by the Christian wom en's Fellowship under the direc tion of Mrs. Wayne Troxell, lo cal service director. Devotionals will be brought by the youth of the local church under the sponsorship of Miss Beverly Lyman, Youth Director of First church. A nursery will be provided. Max Peirce Funeral Arranged Thursday Funeral services for Maxwell , Peirce Sr., 49, who died Sunday at his home here, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal church with the Rev. George Bolster officiating. Inter ment will take place in Siskiyou : Memorial park. Mr. Peirce, who was born March 25, 1903, in Portland, had been a resident of Medford for the past 20 years. He was owner of the Medford Investment com pany and for many years was . active in a number of local or ganizations. Survivors include his wife and a son, Maxwell Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be George M. Roberts, Robert F. Kyle, H. B. Murphy, H. H. Prin- gle, Dr. Edwin R. Durno, Ralph H. Norris, Martin Luther, War den Olson, Harry L. Holmes, Frank P. Farrell and Diamond Flynn. . Active pallbearers will in clude Ben J. Trowbridge, Justin B. Smith, James E. Hayes Jr., Robert K. Norris, N. B. Bender and Dr. B. L. Lageson. Friends desiring to pay last respects may call at the Perl funeral home Wednesday after noon or evening. Keyserling Terms Charges 'Nonsense' Washington (U.R) Govern ment economist Leon H. Keyser ling said Tuesday it is "utter nonsense" to claim that either he or his wife were ever Commu nists or pro-Communists. Keyserling, now chairman of President Truman's Council of Economic Advisers, referred to a charge by Sen. Joseph R. Mc Carthy (R.-Wis.) that witnesses before government panels have accused Mrs. Keyserling of once being a Communist and Keyser ling himself of having pro-Red sympathies.
