Keyserling Terms
Charges 'Nonsense'
Washington (U.R) Govern
ment economist Leon H. Keyser
ling said Tuesday it is "utter
nonsense" to claim that either he
or his wife were ever Commu
nists or pro-Communists.
Keyserling, now chairman of
President Truman's Council of
Economic Advisers, referred to
a charge by Sen. Joseph R. Mc
Carthy (R.-Wis.) that witnesses
before government panels have
accused Mrs. Keyserling of once
being a Communist and Keyser
ling himself of having pro-Red
sympathies.
In a formal statement, he
made a categorical deniad of any
such accusations.
