Kirkland West will begin a sermon series on "Christ Wants Happy Families; Is Yours One?" at the 11 a.m. service on Sunday, April 20. Subject of the first sermon will be "Christ's Teaching on Mental Health." Moore, of Ponca City, Okla., former Army chaplain who was twice im prisoned by the Germans in World War II, will speak Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Medford Church of the Nazarene, accord ing to the pastor, The Rev. Vernon Wilcox. The district superintendent, The Rev. W. D. McGraw Jr., of Portland, will also participate In the service, which will be broad cast over radio station KYJC. While with the Army, Captain Moore was twice captured. twice bombed, and twice liber ated. His second liberation was effected by the 88th division, In which his brother, Major J. p. Moore Jr., was serving as chap lain. Writes Book The unexpected meeting of the two brothers, as well as many other war experiences, Is related in his book, "Prisoner of the Germans." After the war, he was professor of Biblical lit erature at Bethany-Peniel col lege until 1948. Since that time he has been serving as super intendent of the Northwest Ok lahoma district of the Nazarene denomination. Other services of the day will Include Sunday school at 9:45 a.m., youth meetings at 6:30 p.m., and an evangelistic service at 7:30 p.m., with the pastor bringing a message on the theme: "What Jesus Taught About Hell." The public is Invited to these services. Fairley Speaker AfYFCSession Donald A. Fairley, missionary from Gabon in French Equator ial Africa, will be speaker at 8 p.m. Saturday at a Rogue Val ley Youth for Christ rally at Medford junior .high school. Mr. Fairley went to Africa In 1929 and has completed four terms of service, first In the Bel gian Congo and later In Gabon, engaging In pioneer evangelism and station dcvclopmet. His im mediate work has been evange lism among four language groups and the establishment of gospel centers for the training and supervision of native workers. An interesting part of his work has been among the Pygmies. Before his conversion, Mr. Fairley was a wild animal train er, working with lions and tig ers. He will give imitations of forest noises and descriptions of African life. A. Members have been holding services at the Odd Fellows hall. Officials of the church said that the frame stucco building will be erected at West Main and Chestnut streets. Three lots totaling 150 by 125 feet have been purchased at the site and will make off-the-street-parking possible. Large Building Auditorium portion of the building will be 108 feet long and 39 feet wide. The two-story education department section will be 72 by 24 feet and will have space for 14 classrooms. Balcony Included, the auditor ium will seat about 400 people. R. T. Burns will supervise con struction. Much of the work will be donated by members. The church now has 150 mem bers and average Sunday school attendance is more than 100. Rhodesia Picture To Be Shown Here A 75-minute aound film, "I Am With You," will be shown at First Christian church at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The movie was taken In Southern Rhodesia under aus pices of the Church of Sweden and has professional actors with native Africans also In the cast. Young people of the church are sponsoring the showing here. The public is invited. It will be broadcast at 7:30 a.m. by station KMED. Medford Church of Christ is sponsor. The 30-minute program, un der direction of the Highland Church of Christ, Abilene, Tex., is the first network radio pro gram ever produced by the Churches of Christ. James W. Nichols Is evangelist. Leonard Burford and Bill Davis are di rectors of the a cappella choir for the broadcast. Nichols' Efforts The network program was In augurated largely through the efforts of Nichols and $300,000 was raised from 9,000 congrega tions of the denomination In 40 states to finance the project. Nichols, a graduate of Abi lene Christian college is a native of Abilene and has been preach ing since he was 15 years old. His story is related in the March 24 issue of Time magazine.
