Roosevelt Memorial Dinner Scheduled By Democrats Here Jackson county Democrats will hold their second annual Roosevelt Memorial dinner Sat urday, April 19. at the Medford hotel with David C. Shaw, Gold Beach attorney, giving the ad dress of the evening. Shaw was 4th District Democratic nom inee for Congress in 1950. The dinner, beginning at 6:30 p. m. will be attended by Demo cratic state party officials and candidates for both major and county offices, according ot Mrs. Edward C. Kelly, county chairman. Spokesmen for both Senator Estes Kefauver and Governor Adlai Stevenson, competing in the Oregon presidential prefer ential primary, will be heard on the program. Commit!.. The program will include choral numbers and well-known hymns and gospel songs. The choir has made numerous concert appearances throughout the Pacific coast under the direction of Russell Marshall. Other smaller musical ensembles will be featured with the choir. Hosick said he has no plans for the future. Collision Reported A sedan operated by Terrell Chase, Cave Junction, and a pick-up' truck driven by Harold A. Assessment Talks Due at Meeting A committee of 10 business men will meet with County As sessor C. A. Myers and his depu ties Monday at 9 a.m. to work out final details of a new pro gram for personal property tax assessment in regard to merchan dise inventories. Myers' deputies reported Sat urday that the "legwork" on the recent check of merchandise in ventories has been completed. But the committee has been call ed together to work out final factors leading to a logical and equitable basis for a fair assess ment of merchandise, it was re ported. The assessment ratio which they will help establish will be comparable to that now existing for purposes of taxation on other types of property, including real property. The businessman's committee was selected as representative of the businesses involved In the project. Brethren Men's Work Group Plans Pal Night The Church of the Brethren will observe a men's work pal night at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, it was announced Saturday by Chester Lapp, program chair man, and Stanley Keller, pastor. A sound colored film, "Adven tures on the Party Line," will be shown through the courtesy of the Pacific Telephone company. Men and boys of the neighbor hood and others are invited. Doman, a transient, was ar rested by city police yesterday on a charge of shoplifting at a local market. He was lodged in the city jail. Cars Collide Cars belonging to David L. Savago and Therman E. McDougall, both of Ashland, collided Saturday morning at the Intersection of Tolman Creek road and Highway 99 south of Ashland, state police reported. No one was injured but both cars were damaged, the report said.
