And If you and he should have children, how could he manage to make two ends meet? This would mean an addi tional burden for your mother as you would have to continue working. Even though you are divorced your former husband Is still le gally responsible for the support of his child and he should be paying your something In alimo ny. See your minister and ask him if he cannot arrange with the courts to have your former husband assume his obligations to you and your child. With financial help from him, you would be able to put your child in a nuricry school while you worked or you could pay a younger woman to keep your child in her home with her own children. This would ease the burden that you have been put ting on your mother's shoulders. Elisabeth Hurlock Is a con sulting phyicholorjtit. A pound of hamburger contains as many health-giving minerals as a pound of fine sirloin, according to scientists at the Illinois Insti tute of Technology. Scientists at the institute de cided to find out how much of each mineral is found In various grades of beef. In most instances when there is substantial reason (not Just a guess) to believe a patient's trouble is due to a focus of in fection in one or both tonsils, diathermy (electro coagulation) treatment is at least aa effective as the major operation, in my opinion. Of course, my opinion may have no weight as against the opinion of the trick specialist who wants to perpetrate the atrocity known as tonsillectomy where your throat or maybe your life Is concerned. But I assure you that if my tonsil or tonsils were Infected the treat ment would be electro-coagula tion, not radical surgery. Not that I mind having an opera tion my experience as a pa tient with gangrenous appendi citis was sheer pleasure but I prefer the safer treatment if there is an alternative There are two reasons why the diathermy (electro-coagulation) treatment for infected tonsils is not as popular as tonsillectomy: (1) Few physicians have the moral courage to think lor them selves; it Is easier for them to continue using crude nineteenth century meods and the opera tion known as tonsillectomy is atrocious; (Z) As long as they can get away with the atrocity so easily the ever-ready operators have no incentive to acquire the greater skill it takes to annlv electro-coagulation successfully. A man almost completely dis abled by Joint trouble "tried" a variety of healers in his com munity and, of course, obtained no relief. So he drew his savings from the bank and went to the clinic" 800 milea away. Thev always look better far away from home. When he had been run through the works at the cllnfo the dozens of tests which could have been made as well and at less expense back home the first assistant to the demitv chief contemplated the reports and Informed the man that his trouble was undoubtedly due to a septic focus or foci In tonsil or tonsils, but owing to the condi tion of his heart the removal of the tonsil; would be too danger ous, so.ne could only go back home and wait for the inevit able . . . The poor geek went back home, but he recalled that one of the "ordinary" doctors he had "tried" a year earlier had said something about a safe way to treat Infected tonsils. He visited the doctor and the doctor g-ve mm nis first diathermy treat ment. In due time the septic focus in the tonsil was disinfect ed, drained or destroyed, and presently the patient experi enced so much relief that he was able to resume his regular Job.
