Davis, 1167 Sage road, reported Sunday night that his bicycle was stolen sometime between 7 and 10:43 p. m. last night from the front of the Esquire theater, according to the city police. The bicycle is black with silver fenders. Collision A collision Satur day about S p. m., at North Front near Fifth street, involv ing cars driven by Walter Broyles, 10S4 Lozier lane, and Mattie Adelia Fugere, route 1. box 834, resulted in no Injuries to occupants of the cars, accord ing to city police. Father Passes Ulysses L. Mathes, 81, father of Lester P. Mathes of Central Point, died March 18 in Hutchinson, Kan., according to word received here. The deceased was "a former po lice judge at Guymon, Okla., and final rites and niterment were in the latter city. Aboard Carrier James R. Hughes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh E. Hughes, Route 2, Medford, is serving aboard the escort aircraft carrier USS Bal- roko, now in Korean waters, ac cording to a Navy press release. The vessel is a part of the UN blockading and escort forces on the west coast of Korea. Articles Lost Marie Daniels, 403 East Main street, reported Saturday to city police that she lost a black leather Amity bill fold containing, about $4 in the Bartlett street Safeway store. Sunday Robert E. Mclntyre, 1310 West Main street, reported to the police the loss Saturday night at the Craterian theater of his wife's Kelbert wrist watch. "When you love someone, "no" is not answer enough." she said. The young mother of two small children, held on suspi cion of murder, said she became enraged by Jeers and laughter and a slap in the race in response to her pleas for a reconciliation. Can't Bland Treatment "When you love a person you Just cant stand that kind of treatment.' she sobbed. Police said she shot her hus band. Leslie Raymond Plymire, 24, a plastics worker, in the chest at the home of her sister. Mrs. Raymond O. Smith. It was the tragic climax to a birthday party Sunday to which both Plymire and his estranged wife had been invited In hopes they would reconcile. Mrs. Plymire shot her husband with her brother-in-law's re volver after first firing bullet at his feet, witnesses said. He knocked the gun from her hand and as two men Interceded in the struggle, she retrieved it and fired the shot which killed Ply mire. Mrs. Plymire told police she was married to Plymire in 1930. and they separated last year shortly after he learned she was expecting a child. Pamela Leslie, now 4 months old. "He didn't want the baby." she sobbed, "and he was mean and nasty all the time, so we Just separated. "Leslie said he was tired of being married and didn't want to have children." Mrs. Plymire also has another child from a farmer marriage, Virginia Joy Luedeman, 2. Rehearsals Under Way Far Jacksonville Play Jacksonville Final rehearsals for "Brides to Burn." Jackson ville senior class high school play scheduled for April 10, are now in progress, according to Bob MacLauchlan, Medford, play director, and Footlighters civic theater member. The three-act farce has cast of 11 students, five boys and six girls. So that all students of the grade and high school may have the opportunity of seeing the play, a raatinee performance will be given at the school Thursday afternoon at a nominal charge. The Thursday evening per formance is set for 8 pro. Arrest fallows Car Collision an Sunday City police arrested Ben Arms Olea. 363 South Central avenue, following a collision early Sun day morning at North Front and East Fifth streets, they reported today. He was charged with reckless driving with liquor involved, and posted 823 bail In police court, records of the court showed. The article concerned the fart that Time msgazlne had a "Miscel lany" item about a time vault lock which had been set wrong, and necessitated a short term cash loan from one bank to an other. The Mail Tribune's story In advertently credited the mishap to the First National bank's branch here, when it should have been the VS. National bank. Jacksonville Cemetery Cleanup Work Started Jacksonville The annual pre Decoration day cleanup work at the Jacksonville ceme tery Is under way, according to Carl S. Hoskins. sexton. He is attempting to do as much of the work as possible. However, to get all the work done by Memor ial day. May 30, those owning lots are asked to clean the lots themselves or to arrange with the sexton for the work, Hoskins added. The work will be done for those requesting it at nominal charge and according to the time of the requests, the sexton said. Trash must be removed from the cemetery, according to a city ordinance, he added. Arrangements may be made with Hoskins by telephoning Medford 3-1477 or writing Post- office Box 38. Jecksonville. April 1. 1882 Committee Meetings Will Study Zoning The Jackson County Rural Life committee will meet at 8 pjn. today in the extension agent's office In the county courthouse to consider the possi bility of reviving the twice-defeated county zoning measure in Jackson county. Bruce Grieve. Prospect Is chairman of the committee, which studies a variety of meas ures which have a bearing on rural life in the" area. Some 12 or 15 members are expected to attend. The county zoning measure has been before the voters of Jackson county twice in recent years and was defeated both times, the last time by a narrow margin. The committee hopes to gain sufficient support to get it on the November general elec tion ballot Woodlot Management Clinic Set Tuesday A woodlot management clinic will be conducted at the Sams Valley ranch of State Sen. Ben Day tomorrow, it was reported here this morning. Paul Good mansen, Oregon State college woodlot specialist will be in charge of the demonstrations, which will concern proper man agement of second growth fir and pine. Bob Furniss, federal ento mologist; Lloyd Hayes, of the Pacific Northwest Forest and Range experiment station's Rose burg branch; Dale Prentiss, of Western Pine association, and Hardy Clascock of West Coast Lumbermen's association, will also participate. The demonstrations will show how farmers may obtain supple mental income from their own farm woodlots when they are used on a managed and continu ous basis. 1950 Auto-Bus Crash Cause of Damage Suit A $10,500 damage case was filed in circuit court Saturday by Edna Mattoon, who lives near Redmond, Ore., and who was in jured in a car-bus collision in Ashland on April 7, 1950. The complaint seeks $10,000 general damages and $500 special medical damages from John W. Campbell Jr., driver of the car, and Henry J. Huber and L. P. Kelly, doing business as the Evergreen Bus line. The woman suffered injuries to her shoulder and spine, ac cording to the complaint and alleges negligence on the part of both defendants. Southerland. formerly an Army non-commissioned officer at the Medford recruiting sta tion, is in Medford on a 20-day delay en route, visiting his wife and his mother, Mrs. Helen O. Keesee, 28 South Peach street. Southerland was a sergeant first class when he was stationed here several years ago. He was promoted to warrant grade last September. The officer has been serving with the 502nd anti-aircraft artil lery gun battalion at Eileson Air Force base in Alaska.
