Wider horizontal bumper bars with enclosed parking lights, and tail fins enclosing the tail lights feature exterior styling this year. Ex ceptional fuel economy and high performance horsepower are claimed for the new models. Illustrated above is the six-cylinder Corsair de luxe. To be shown at the same time will be other Kaiser models, brand new from the Willow Run factory. The bigger cars feature a number of styling and mechanical changes and innovations. Adlai Stevenson Declines Offer of Demo Nomination Springfield, 111. (U.R) Gov. Adlai E. Stevenson said flatly Thursday that he would not seek the Democratic nomination for president." And he repeated once again his statement that "I am a candidate for reelection as governor of Illinois and for nothing else." "And I hope that is all that happens to me," he said. Post Said Offered Stevenson's firm denial that he had any ambitions to be come president at the present time came amidst a sunburst of press reports that Mr. Truman bad offered him the nomination and also that he firmly declined it. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch in a copyrighted story from Washington said the president had offered Stevenson his sup- Democratic standard bearer. Felt Strongest Man The Post-Dispatch said Mr. Truman chose Stevenson after conferring with Democratic lead ers because the Illinois Democrat was "the strongest man for con tinuing the administration's for eign policy and one who would be a unifying influence within the Democratic party. " But the newspaper added that Stevenson "is not inclined" as of Thursday, to accept the presi dent's proposal." However, Stevenson did not "close the door" in his talks with Mr. Truman, the Post Dis patch said. In the nation's capital, mem bers of the board of governors refused to confirm or deny the story, but one source said a de cision had been made and will be announced soon." To Meet Husband He was due back about Thursday, and Mrs. ' Truman planned to be waiting for him at the airport so they could walk in the front door of the White House together, just like a bride and groom entering their Iirst borne; Members of the White House staff said they didn't really ex pect Mr. Truman to go so far as to carry "The Madam" over the threshhold. But they said he was pretty excited about "going home" and probably would make a little speech from the front stoop, which is known as the north portico. Judge Denies Communist Ties Las Vegas. Nev. (U.R) Fed eral Judge Leon Yankwich flatly denied Wednesday night that he had ever been a Socialist, Com munist,, or member of any other subversive group. The 63-year-old judge replied to a demand made in Congress by Rep. Richard Vail, R-I1L, for an investigation into the Los Angeles judge's fitness to retain his seat on the bench because of his alleged sympathies toward Communists. Yankwich, speaking before the Nevada Bar association, said the lecture Vail referred to as sub versive was a condemnation of Hitler's idea of racial superior ity. Vail's charges referred to Yankwich as a lecturer before the People's Educational Center Moose En Route To New Quarters Anchorage, Alaska U.R Molly the Moose, branded a pub lic enemy by residents of a construction camp southwest of here, was on the high seas Thurs day, enroute to a new home. Molly was adopted by mem bers of the camp a year ago after she apparently spurned normal moose life for civilization. But as j she grew larger, her popularity : waned and residents finally de cided she was a menace to wom en and children. They called agents of the Fish and Wildlife Service who built a moose-sized trap and enticed her into the cage, baited with choice food. Then she was trucked to Seward and put on a boat bound for Cordova. The service had been building .a moose herd in that area since 1949.
