Ewing, federal seeur itv administrator, at the same time announced that some 500 school and hospital projects may be oermitted to resume construe tion after being held up for lack of materials. He said allocations of critical materials would be mad for the third and fourth quarters. Seven cities, including Port land and Seattle, have been des ignated by defense authorities as employment hardship areas, Ew- nir said, and will be Kiven es pecially lenient treatment. Multnomah County Death Toll Reaches 8 Portland (U.R) Mrs. Chris tine Hagberg, 80, of Gresham, was listed Monday as the eighth traffic fatality of the year in Multnomah county outside of Portland. Mrs. Hagberg died in a Port land sanitarium Sunday about four hours after she was injured in a two-car collision. She was thrown "from a car driven by her 'daughter, Mrs. Marion Hilden Hoss, 48, also of Gresham, when it was struck by a vehicle driven by the Rev. John Allen Phinney, 33.
