Points Field Trial : Attracts Visitors; Dinner To Be Given Attracted by the points field trial of the Rogue Valley Re triever club, many visitors have arrived in the valley to spend the week-end. The trial, first points trial of this type ever held here, is being held at Hoov er lakes off Avenue A, Camp . White area, today, Saturday and Sunday. Among the women owners and handlers of dogs here are three Californians, Mrs. John Preston, San Mateo, Mrs. Ludington Pat ton Jr., Chico, and Beverly Utter, - the latter being one of the youngest of the handlers. ' Planned as a social event for the week-end is an informal din ner set for Saturday evening at the Jackson hotel. A social hour will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. with the dinner to follow. Wom en of the club will act as host esses. Kenneth Denman will be mas ter of ceremonies, and will pre sent trophies won Friday and Saturday. Other trophies will be displayed. Anyone interested is invited to attend the dinner and reser- " vations are to be made by phon ing Jackson County Chamber of Commerce before noon Satur day. Mrs. Harley Nelson is sec retary of the club. The public is invited to at tend the trials, which begin each day at 8 a.m. Signs will be placed on Crater Lake highway to direct motorists to the site of the trials. It is stressed that the trials will be of interest to young and old alike and families are Invited to attend. Big bonfires will be kept going for warmth and concessions will be operat ed at the grounds. Basketball Team Honored at Dinner Mrs. Sam Weir and Mrs. Aus tin Caldwell were hostesses Mon day night for a dinner which honored members of the basket ball team of Griffin Creek school. It was held at the Cald well home, 1110 Atkins street. St. Patrick's day decorations were used, and a special cake with the name of the team was served. Members of the team are Lor en Fleming, Joe Branum, Keith Clogston, Ronald Muir, Robert Guches, Ray Powers, Clarence Verschoor, Bennie Adams and Ralph Weir. Other guests were Floyd Robinson, coach, and Mrs. Myrna Frink, principal of the school. Assisting as callers will ,be Benny Parkhurst, Ashland, Sam Conner, Ashland; Jack Walker, Geary Conrad, Jack Crump, Norm Hillyer and Dan Neill, Medford, and John Nieder meyer, Jacksonville. Mrs. Claude Miles heads the committee which is busy plan ning special dishes for the smorgasbord. Others working on the plans are Mrs. LeRoy Bailey, ticket sale and entertainment; Bob Jones, publicity; Mrs. Grover Corum, buying and cook ing of the food; Mrs. Jesse James, kitchen manager; Mrs. John Carter, tables and decora tions; Mrs. Curtis Donahue, so liciting; Mrs. Bruce Bio ugh, snack bar. Everyone interested in square dancing is invited to attend, and a large gathering is anticipated. Accordion Students To Present Recitals Second of series of recitals will be given at the Eve Pren tice Accordion, studio Tuesday, March 25. It will begin at 7:30 p.m. Participating will be Virginia Walters, Bea Rasmussen, Jimmy Glasscock, Delbert Harvey, Kar en Britton. Charlotte Keene, Raymond Swingle, Bonnie Goeh ring, Lynn Hales, Gene Harvey, Gerald Fanger, Beverly Keene, Cora Belle Ravenor, Sandra El rod, Billy Beer, Joe Bailey, Marilyn Fanger and Oveta Wal den. Third of the series will be given the following night, March 26. It will also be held at the studio beginning at 7:30 p.m. Taking part will be Patty Ken naday, Sharon Whitlock, Joyce Messinger, Marlys Glaser, Cal vin Gillispie, Diane Orr, Sally Lindgren, Gwendolyn Krouse, Vida Childers, Verl Berry, Kath leen Morse, Linda Lindgren, Beverly Jones, Phyllis Berry and Joe 'Taylor. Parents and friends of the stu dents are invited. Assisting Mrs. Prentice with the arrangements will be Miss Carol Davis and Miss Delores Davis. News ofA-H CLUBS Upper Rogue Club Upper Rogue 4-H club enjoyed a social meeting March 17 in the Shady Cove schoolhouse. The Beef club entertained with a movie. Chairmen in all towns of Jack son county have been appointed to direct the Easter sale activi ties. Mrs. John Mills and Mrs. J. A. Eidswick, Ashland, Mrs. Kejth Scott, Butte Falls; Mrs. Donald Burelson, Central Point; Mrs. Bert Stanley, Eagle Point; Mrs. Edward J. Knapp, Gold Hill; Mrs. Paul Matheny, Jack sonville; Mrs. Charles F. Hoey, Phoenix; Mrs. Roscoe Larson, Prospect; Mrs. Clint Hawkins, Rogue River; Mrs. Allen East gate, Shady Cove and Mrs. Wayne Reichstein, Talent, will be in charge of booths and Lily Day parades in their respective towns. Mrs. C. B. Partch, Jackson county chairman, points out that the seals are obtainable only through the mail and at the booths. In addition to the seal sale, coin containers are placed in various places of business in the county, and miniature lilies are sold during the Lily Day parades to add to the fund. No funds are received by the so ciety from the Community Chest or Medford Plan. Central Point Mothers Hold Recent. Meeting Central Point Central Point Navy Mothers' club held a busi ness meeting recently at the home of Mrs. Eva Campbell Mrs. M. A. Adams was appointed hospital chairman. The club plans to do sewing for the in firmary at Camp White, as well as making a layette and quilts for Navy families. Final plans were made for a ways and means project. An all day meeting will be held Wednesday, March 26, at the home of Mrs. M. A. Adams, North Upton road. A potluck luncheon will be served at noon. Quilts will be tied for a mem ber, sewing done on gowns and a social hour held during the afternoon. Each member is to take a "white elephant." In cooperation with t he "Seeds for Democracy" cam paign, a package of seeds was made ready for mailing to the Philippine Republic. Refresh ments were served by the host ess. Medford Chapter Of Credit Women To Be Organized A Medford chapter of the Credit Women's Breakfast Club of North America will be organ ized at a meeting to be held Sun day, March 23, at the Jackson hotel at 10:30 a.m. Members of chapters at Eu gene, Roseburg, Salem and Coos Bay will attend, as well as a group of credit women from Grants Pass. The Credit Women's Break fast clubs, a division of the Na tional Retail Credit association, are active in almost every state in the union and in every prov ince in Canada. Purpose of the organization -is "to promote the interest of credit women in their profession and in part to further the education of its members in the methods, practices and the general procedure of credit and collections; to promote good will, fellowship and a better un derstanding among its members by personal contact and associa tion, and to bring about a closer cooperation between the Credit Bureau and the credit depart ment." Mr. Irish is president of Jackson County Retail Credit association. Reynolds Tobacco Heir, Bride on Honeymoon Long Beach, Cal. (U.R) Gran dison Reynolds, grand-nephew of late tobacco czar R. J. Reynolds, and the 18-year-old bride he met in Japan, were honeymooning here Friday. Reynolds, 22, is a sergeant in the First Cavalry division. He is the son of Mrs .Ernest Rey nolds of Lexington, Ky. March SI. 1132 Reorganized Men's Chorus Meeting The reorganized men's chorus is now holding meetings each Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. at Roose velt school, persons interested in the group said today. Richard Werner, Medford musician, is act ing as conductor for the chorus. The group was reorganized about three weeks ago and be tween 12 and 15 men have at tended meetings. They point out that the group is open to all in terested men in the Rogue val ley. They hope to have a mem bership of between 40 and 50. Those wishing to join may do so simply by attending the next meeting. The original chorus disbanded about a year ago when the group was unable to obtain a perma nent conductor. Sgt L. D. Newstrom of the U. S. Air Force left last Tuesday after spending several days here with his aunt, Mrs. Augusta Perry and other relatives in Grants Pass, and the Lake Creek district. He re turned to the states February 26, after having spent the past year and a half m Alaska with the 5064th cold weather material testing squadron,, as aerial pho tographer. He has been reassign ed to headquarters air proving ground command at Elgin Air Force base in Florida to photo graphic test work. Mr. and Mrs; T. N. Clark of Seattle and Miss Minnie Clark of Bellingham, Wash., left last Monday for home after spend ing a week here with their brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Buford Clark.
