Accident V icf tin Still Unconscious Ashland! Mrs. Elsie McElmur ry, 70, Madison, Wis., remained in a serious condition today from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on the Sis kiyous Tuesday, according to her attending physician. She is in Ashland General hospital. The injured woman has not re gained consciousness since the time of the accident and has a fractured skull, fractured pelvis and internal injuries, the phy sician said. Another woman pas senger in the. same car, whose name the physician did not know, also was injured and suf fered a concussion, he said. She is not now hospitalized. The accident occurred about noon Tuesday-. when the car in which they were riding skidded on icy pavement near Ruby's Kitchen and crashed into a bumper of a freight truck". A re port from the Ashland General hospital Tuesday said Mrs. Mc Elmurry's son, m Gordon .McEl murty, was " driver of the car. Joseph Earl Smith was driver of the truck. Harry G. McElmur ry, the injured woman's hus band, also was a'passengef.of the car. Funeral Arranged For Butte Falls Man Ashland Services for . Ethan Allen Hildreth', 84, Butte Falls, who died Tuesday, will be Sat urday at 1:30 p. m. at Litwiller funeral home. Members of Ash land Elks' lodge will officiate. Interment will be at Central Point cemetery. , Mr. Hildreth, a bookkeeper, was bora June 28, 1867, at Dry den, Mich. He was a resident of Ashland for many years. ; Survivors are two sons, Har old S:, Menlo Park, Cal., and E. Ross, Portland,, and. two grandchildren. CAA Man Gives Talk . On Airport Here Today Grant MacCurdy, Seattle rep resentaitve of the Civil Aero nautics administration, spoke before a joint meeting of the Medford city coincil airport committee ' and the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce aviation committee at a noon meeting today. The luncheon meeting was held at the Med ford hotel. MacCurdy was scheduled to discuss airport management and proposed development of the Medford municipal airport. Chamber members also indicat ed that he would speak on meth ods by which that organizrV I could aid in development of the airport. Coast Guard will establish a temporary recruiting office ' in Medford next Mon day, it was announced today. -Chief Quartermaster Ed Swenson and Seaman Dick Daoust will be assigned to .the sub-station, and ' will announce later the office location and the length of time they plan to keep it open. Men without previous service joining the Coast Guard must be between 17 and 25 vears of age, and may be' married but without other - dependents. En listments in certain higher rat ings may be made by qualified ex-servicemen who have up to three dependents. Officer candidate enlistments are available to qualified college graduates. -. News of 4-H i CLUBS Antelope 4-H Club The date for the Antelope 4-H club box social was set for Fri day, April 11, at our meeting on March 14 at Antelope school house. Earl Jossy told the club about a Jersey sale open to 4-H and FFA members only. It was held March 15. Bill Bigham told us of plans to rebuild the show arena that burned down last fall. The new arena is to have a rounded top and be six feet longer and a lit tle wider. George Barr and hs assistant, Paul Willson, of the Medford Feed and Seed store, showed pictures. Mary Willson played the piano while reels - were changed. Barr passed out book lets on fitting baby beef steers -for show. House, Fern Valley, has received word of the death of her brother, George Ellis, Tuesday in Grants Pass. U.R) The Salt Lake Pipe Line Co. an nounced Thursday that it hopes to lay a new, $8,000,000 petro leum products line from Salt Lake City to Boise this year. The eight inch line will paral lel the 330-mile products line built between the two cities two years ago and later extended northwest to Pasco, Wash. The company president, C. E. Finney Jr., said the new unit would give the firm a daily pipe line capacity between Salt Lake City and Boise of 39,500 barrels.
